Any Gran Bahia Principe Runaway Bay Brides out there?

We did a sand ceremony at our wedding back in January.  To keep the sand from getting all mixed up I just made sure Chandlyn kept the box the kit came in, stuffed the extra space on top of the sand with paper towel (as much as I could so that it was good and tight), then put the lid on, and put everything back in the box.  I took it as carry on for the flight and just asked the flight attendant to keep it somewhere where it could stand upright.  It made it home safe and sound and looks exactly like it did at the wedding.  I highly recommend doing the sand ceremony.  It's beautiful what it represents and makes for a gorgeous keepsake.

After that, if people want to still party we will go to the disco. We aren't doing a private dinner because of the price tag and the whole reason we are doing a destination wedding is because it truly is cheaper than having a traditional wedding here in Iowa. We are doing a semi-private dinner in one of the restaurants. Not sure if you can choose which one or not. We are getting married at 3 in the afternoon to allow for enough light for after the ceremony for pictures. We are also having a steel drum band at the ceremony. Debating on whether or not to do a sand ceremony as well, but not sure how the sand won't get mixed up on our way home. If anyone has any suggestions please tell me! We are staying at the GBP for 1 week and taking our honeymoon for another week somewhere in Negril. 2 weeks in Jamaica! I know we will rent the chair covers and sashes to match my bridesmaid dresses and my fiance will wear a khaki colored tux and the groomsmen will probably wear white button down shirts with khakis and sandals. Not sure where to order the flowers from. As I will need them for myself, bridesmaids, groomsmen (Maybe) and our parents. I think I may do OOT bags as well...waiting for my save the dates now to arrive in the mail! You will have to let me know which date you choose! We probably won't book until next January or so. My travel agent said 6 months ahead of time is good since it is off season. It would be neat to have our weddings around the same time!

Hi Natalie-congrats on your recent nuptials!! Great photos! I am considering this hotel for July 2013. Do you know what the beach ceremony site is like? Also I am reading mixed reviews on the beach in general-is it decent?? We'd also like to have dinner after the ceremony on the beach - do you know if that is a possibility at GBP? Thanks so much, Sarah!

I love love that first dress!  I think it is a great wedding dress.  In my opinion the second dress is way to sparkly and is something that could be worn to a party or prom.

Hi Natalie-congrats to you!! Would you mind if I pick your brain? We are considering this resort for July 2013 but want a beach ceremony (ie not in the gazebo) and dinner set up on the beach. Do you think this resort would be conducive to that?  Is the beach nice in general?

Thanks so much! Beautiful pics btw...

Welcome!!  I was married at this resort in January.  I can tell you the beach is not spectacular.  There is an area just to the right of the gazebo where brides have gotten married before.  And as to a dinner on the beach, they won't do it.  I enquired about this when I was decideing where to have my dinner.

pask454, I love the first dress too! I saw your earliest post about buying your dress online and now that's totally the way I'm going to go . . . I tried on a dress I think I've fallen in love with at the bridal store, and it's $1000 . . . online - $150!!! I know the quality likely won't be the same, but to wear it for one day, why not?

Thanks for the help ladies! I knew I fell in love with that dress for a reason. Your right, the second dress IS a prom dress, it's just so damn pretty! To get it out of my system Im going to davids bridal this thursday to TRY some on...and compare. Im going to my parents house tonight to admire the first dress for a bit!

Icamer - I wasnt sure about online, but I went with it anyways. It came about a month later...and I do love it! There are some little imperfections, but thats the way I like it. The quality isnt magnificent..but it works!!!!  Goodluck!  (PS...I bought mine from tidebuy.com  Ive also heard good things about  lightinthebox.com)

Thanks again!

Thanks for the info... I heard that there is a snack bar on the beach that they set up for wedding dinners, do you know if that's true? So what makes the beach only so-so? The one thing that seems good is that the wedding site (gazebo OR beach) seems to be fairly private, compared to some other resorts, where there are people hangin around in their bathing suits!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
