Any Gran Bahia Principe Runaway Bay Brides out there?

Recommended Posts

I will be getting my hair and makeup done at the resort.  I have heard only positive things about them.  I plan on doing a hair trial next week in Canada and taking tons of pictures to take down with me.  I'm not to picky about my hair though.  If you are, you may want to do it your self.

I had a question about the Salon at GBP, whether or not I should get my hair done the day of the wedding there....or should I just try and learn myself? Last I heard it wasn't a good experience and the hairdresser did not listen to anything the bride had to say. Any input....??

I can learn myself, but it won't be as good as a hairdresser. Same goes with make-up, any suggestions/input?

Thanks!

Chandlyn and Donnalee should have given you a copy of the marriage registration certificate immediately after wedding(what you sign at wedding). This is what they send off to register your marriage in Jamaica. You can use that to show proof for stuff like insurance, etc. But nothing government related like your social or license. You will get your official marriage certificate/license 2 months after wedding which can be used for those things.

Okat this may sound stupid but I wasn't given anything to bring home with me that is proof I actually am married. I think Chandlyn sdaid they mail me a certificate but my question is what do i do with it??? Do I have to go to the court house or soemthing to register it here in canada. Thanks again ladies for you answers

Hi Jodiann,

We have just booked Roan as well and he has been fabulous! We are getting married in March and I have procrastinated HUGE! He also has videography packages as well which is nice. You do not have to hire a different photographer and a videographer!

I've also booked Rashel Edwards for makeup and her assistant for my hair.  I found her prices to be comparable to the resort's.  The selling factor for me was that Rashel uses airbrush makeup which is really lightweight and gives you a super flawless look, whereas the resort salon uses concealer, foundation, etc.  Much more cakey in my opinion.  I think Rashel's portfolio also speaks  for itself, not to mention the endless positive reviews from past brides.  Her facebook page is called Chasity Artistry Rashel Edwards  Her email address is makeupartistry1@hotmail.com  She's been fantastic to deal with.  She has even added me to her BBM in case I have any questions so that she can respond quickly.  I highly recommend her!

Hi Brides,

I have spent a few hours going over all of these wonderful posts and I want to thank everyone for all your information. It has been incredibly helpful. Only 77 days till our big day. I have tried to be good so far and am only NOW starting to get everything together and really concentrate on putting this wedding together. I chose a destination wedding to avoid the LONG planning period and stress of a giant wedding and I will admit so far it has been wonderful.

As of now we have the Dolce Italian restaurant booked and the gazebo booked for after (without bartender).

We have booked Roan Robinson as a photographer as well.

I am getting sooo excited. I believe we have a group of 40 going with us!

I will keep checking in for more tips and advise!

Thank you again to all the brides who have continued to share helpful information even after they were married. I greatly appreciate it.

Best of luck to the brides getting married in January!!

@ashley490 - I've been thinking about booking Rashel as well, her prices were cheaper then the resort and she's will to give me 2011 pricing if I book before the new year, and our date is not until 2013 and her work does look amazing.   I was just wondering how you put down the deposit for her and if you know if there is a few from the resort for her to come in?  Thanks!!

I made my deposit using Western Union, it was the cheaper option for me.  Rashel will give you a couple different options for your deposit (moneygram, bank wire transfer, etc) though.  I let the wedding coordinator know that Rashel was coming in to do my makeup and I was told that she would need the day pass which is $75.  I was able to negotiate with Chandlyn and ended up being able to include Rashel in my number of wedding guests so I only have to pay the supplemental fee.  Since I'm using the free package it only costs $20 for her to come on the resort.  I'm also having Rashel stay to do touch-ups throughout the evening which I think is very worth it.

Rashel also has a December to Remember special on right now, although it's only for the first 10 brides to book...but you should ask her about it.  I think it gets you 15% off your total.  She also has packages if you have a larger bridal party that you might be interested in, if she hasn't mentioned it to you.

@ashley490 - Thanks for the info, I was going to email her today to confirm with her and arrange for a deposit.  I will definitely check into those deals/packages and if she'd be interested in staying a bit longer, cause that's an excellent idea; my ceremony isn't until 4pm but I'm sure after it and pictures we may need a touch-up!  I think I'll send Chandlyn an email to see what she says about her coming in, cause I think we're gonna do the free package too and if I can pay $20 vs $75, that would be awesome; every bit of savings keeps my FI happy...lol :)

Oh my gosh, I leave in 10 days!! Its coming so quick.  I have been working crazy hours, today being my only day off in 14 days.  I am trying to put together our music CDs.

Just a question:  Is a song that is 3:25 in length going to be long enough for my MOH and myself to walk down the aisle for the gazebo?  Or should I pick two songs?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
