Love this pic, of you too. You looked beautiful cheesy.gif. we have been on here together for a while. I also met UK welsh mother down there and we had some drinks her lastnight together. It was pretty cool to meet brides I didn't see Miss meliss though.

You don't have to register it in Canada, but you will need it if you are planning on changing your name or anything like that.

FYI .. If anyone is looking for a photographer, we just booked ours. His name is Roan Robinson. He is out of Negril (but does travel throughout Jamaica) and is an "up and coming" photographer so his prices are pretty decent compared to the others. His website is roanphotography.com  So far he has been great through email and when requesting information on prices and everything else. I have high hopes for our day =)

Hi Ladies!

Let the countdown begin!!  (I am getting married January 12, 2012) and could not become any more excited to go!  I know all of our guests are gearing up for a great get away!  I have one question for everyone regarding the marriage certificate.

First off, I'm from Minnesota and we are getting married at the resort and not before hand.  Do I need to bring a marriage certificate down with us or do they provide one?  (I don't remember).

Any advise would be greatly appreciated!

Thank You

Sam

I just got an email from Donnalee on Friday (at last) saying she had our marriage certificate and was going to mail it, but wanted to verify the home address first.  That's the proof that you're married in case you're changing your name and bank account names, credit card names, all that stuff. You may need to make a couple of copies and have them notarized, but I'm not sure how it works. I'm not changing my name and we've been living together for about 9 years so we've already sorted out the "together" stuff. I'm quite happy being me and don't want to change my name. I've done it before and it just isn't a big deal.

I am getting married the day after you!  And busybee is the day before you!  What time are you getting married at?  I hope you don't mind that I'm going to creep your wedding!!

You don't have to bring a marriage certificate with you because your marriage certificate will be Jamaican.  They provide it for you.

What day do you arrive at the resort?

Hey ladies!! Congrats to all the new brides.... I've had a few brides message me about Merrick Cousley  and using him as a photographer but for some reason the site won't let me private message back so I figured I'd just make a post.

In my opinion, Merrick is a WONDERFUL person to work with! Such a sweet and kind person, very professional and I loved my pictures and have gotten MANY comments on how awesome they look so I highly recommend him!

Between my wedding day and the trash the dress he took almost 1700 pictures!!! And his prices are amazing, compared to many other photographers!!

I have about 500 of my pictures posted on Facebook so for anyone who wants a sneak peek of my pictures, feel free to add me.... Sarah Connors Espejo

Otherwise, here's a slide show sneak peek that Merrick made for us.

Well I've finally managed to read/scan through all 300 pages of posts and I must send a big thanks to all the past, present, and future brides of GBP.  All your comments and information are so helpful and it is greatly appreciated.  Everyone's pictures are absolutely beautiful and I cannot wait to experience GBP for myself.  We were actually considering doing a site visit because we just didn't know what to expect in planning a DW, but we've decided against it; mostly because all the helpful info here and the WC have been fairly quick in getting back to me recently, which helps with peace of mind.

So, our date is booked and confirmed with the resort, met with our TA today who is going to get me pricing as soon as it's available, and our STDs will go out after the holidays.  Think I may be a bit ahead of the game because I've already designed all my STD's and invites, have a pretty good idea of what I'm getting for OOT bags/favours and bringing for decorations.  I think I'm gonna pass on spending a chunk of money on flowers that you can't bring home or fake ones that no one really keeps and just use fans or parasols for my BM, and I'm going to attempt making shell bouts for the guys; trying to channel my inner DIY creativity...lol :)  Oh, and I got my DRESS...I know it's really early but I could not wait to go shopping for it (I've been waiting 6 yrs for this to come), and I just knew when I put it on, I love it!!  So excited woot.gif

Hope everyone has a upcoming great holiday and happy planning!!!

@ Espejo, gorgeous pics!!!

@Kim, congratulations and  welcome.gif  You're way ahead of the game, that's awesome!!! It must be so refreshing to get a list of things finished early, so that leaves you with extra time to tweek things here and there and relax. You're motivating me to get things started. Although we are 2013 brides, time goes by so fast, it will be here before we know it!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
