Any Gran Bahia Principe Runaway Bay Brides out there?

I did not encounter any problems booking the gazebo in advance. It seems as if they're giving out different information to everyone. I would save all email communication and print copies off before you go, that way you'll have proof on your end; in case they try and switch anything up.

Hey all, newbie here...

Just wanted to say that this thread is sooo great.

I have my heart set on getting married in Jamaica and GBP seems to be the best resort for everyone's budget so I'm like 95% settled on it.

I was concerned with some of the issues that seem to have arose but all the complements on this resort are definitely out-weighing them.  It does help to know what to expect from the WC there and to know to keep all correspondence from them.

Thanks everyone for all your posts!!!

Hi monarch,

I ordered all of my cups and beach bags from www.discountmugs.com.  We didn't get stadium cups, but instead got plastic ones with screw-on lids and straws, kinda like the ones they sell at Starbucks.  Our guests loved them and the cups were really handy throughout the week, especially in the pool.

And as for your question re: the menu, we had our dinner at the Dolce Vita and ordered the caesar salad, roasted thyme and squash soup, the chicken, and tiramisu.  Everybody loved the soup and chicken, but I'd avoid the caesar salad and get something different.  And yes, you have to pick 1 menu for everybody, unless there are people who are vegetarian or have allergies.

Hope this helps!

Hi, Sorry I am unsure. We had a legal ceremony in Jamaica!

We ended up being only 2, but even when we were originally having a group of about 16, we were told 1 choice for everyone unless vegatarian or food allergy. they will send you the choices but I understand you can mix and match from each selection - if that's not right ladies, jump in pls - as long as it's still only one complete menu for everyone. we were booked at the Grill but they were replacing the floor when we were there so they moved us to one of the buffet restaurants instead. A bit disappointing, but since we were 2 it wasn't really a big deal. Our food was great even if I don't remember exactly what we ate! lol I know we had the Mixed Grill but I would have to go back to my paperwork to see what the other selections were. I have no memory of eating dinner whatsoever!! lol

Do all of the guests need to eat the same choices?  Could any of you newly married ladies tell me if you particularly liked a dish at the restaurant or if really didn't like something in particular?  I still have to choose between the Italian restaurant and the Grill.

Thanks for your help!

What is in the mixed grill at the grill restaurant?  We have a menu list but it doesn't seem to be so complete.  I wonder why I've heard 2 people mention to avoid the cesar salad.  It seems like it would be very difficult to mess up a cesar salad.  Doe it have anchovies or something?  Smell fishy?

On our menu, the cesar salad is only offered at the grill and not at the italian restaurant.

How was the tiramisu?

Has anyone had the caprese salad?

Also, does anyone know if the standart cake is one or two layers?  They indicate that you can purchase an extra layer and I'm wondering if that would make 2 or 3 layers with the extra one.

we didn't have it but I think the concern with the cesar is the dressing. jamaica is just not a place where cesar salad is a common thing except for people on resorts! sorry I can't help with the tiramisu or caprese salad either - i seem to remember someone having the caprese but not sure who.

standard cake is 2 layers. extra layer is $40 to give you 3. and design wise, pick one then hope for the best. there isn't anyone I've seen here that got their design for a cake, including me. they like to go a little over board with their designing lol  I don't think they get any other opportunity to be creative. it makes for a lot of icing on the cake but it is really good cake!!! the raspberry one seems to be the favourite so far and it's what we had too.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
