Any Gran Bahia Principe Runaway Bay Brides out there?

Recommended Posts

Trust me some of those reviews bothered me but I am also a complainer, haha so I wouldn't go hours without towels, I would find someone until I got some!! I would read the reviews then make sure you look at certain things when you get there like the cleanliness of the room, staff attitudes etc. Especially me as the bride I am definitely going to make sure that my guests are comfortable and have the best time! I'm a firm believer that if you don't like your job you shouldn't be doing it. So I expect the best even moreso from an all inclusive resort!

I agree, it's always best to look at the review numbers.  I also think that people who give bad reviews sometimes let small things really impact their trip (i.e. not enough chairs on the beach) and then end up reviewing the whole resort as a bad experience.  It's important to really look at what each review is saying and really figure out if it's something that would make or break your trip.  I think if you keep a positive attitude everything works out :)

Out of almost 2100 reviews, 1400 of them were good. Our wedding is 44 days away so I will make sure I write a review and come back and tell everyone how it is. I hope this makes you feel a little better :)

Hello again it's daphodil.  It is crazy how time went by sooooo fast.  Wedding is in 2 weeks and can't focus on the negative reviews bcuz it will be another thing to freak out about, so I will ignore until it's necessary to deal with it.  I have tried to catch up to all the posts, but not enough time so have to play it by ear.  Word to the wise: future brides, finishing school and planning a wedding do not mix.  In the end you pay more attention to one over the other.  Making the most of things and thank God my MOH is the bestest!!!!  Hopefully resort or its service has improved.  Will wait to make own opinion.  Good luck everyone!

Daphodil, you must be so excited about your wedding in two weeks! Congrats and have lots of fun! please tell us all about it when you come back!

I just wanted to tell everyone that I got my Jamaica tour Guide books and Luggage tags for free from the Jamaican tour board in Toronto. They gave us 25 of books and 25 of tags. So that's more than I need. they sent everything in less than a week. I got everything for free and didn't pay for shipping either.

Agreed...most people who post reviews typically only post negatives ones (people are more likely to take time out to complain than to compliment) more often than positive ones so the fact that GBP got that many positive reviews is a really good sign!

Daphodil, you must be getting excited now with time flying by, can I ask when your wedding day is? Mine is august 8, 2011 so I was just wondering if we'll be there the same time!!! :) I have 6 sleeps until we leave and 11 til the wedding!! :) Ive been so cool and collected up to this point but now my nerves are starting to set in (I think mostly because of excitement!)... I'm packed and ready to go already and have been up 430am every morning the last few days thinking and wondering if there's anything I'm missing! At this point the reviews dont bother me because I think if everyone tries to make the most of their trip and doesn't sweat the small things, we'll all be happy! :)

Hi Missmeliss,

I am using RoxRoy for my wedding Sept 3 (rgweddingssii)...he is really accomodating and I love his mini video strip.  I trust Stacey based on the quality of her pictures that she wouldn't recommend a busta ;-)  I will let you know how it goes.

Also, here''s the order of service the resort sent to me.  You can modify it:

Order of ceremony

Processional

Welcome

Declaration Of Intent

Exchange of Vows

Exchange of rings

Blessing

Pronouncement

Signing of documents

Champagne toast

Photo session

I was going to start making my wedding programs does anyone have a template or outline for how they run the ceremony.  I am not sure what to put into the program or what order lol.

thanks

For those who were married at Gran Bahia...please let me know the following:

Tossing of Garter/Bouquet...did you do it?   At which point, after the ceremony/after toast, dance, etc or at the reception dinner?

After the reception dinner, besides reserving the gazebo...did anyone follow their reception with the disco?  If so, what time does it normally open?

What time does karaoke start?

How far is the Lobby Bar from the Gazebo?  Will they allow you to play music in the Lobby area (we were allowed to do this at a resort in DR once)

I have these questions to Chandlyn also, but waiting, trying to see if I can get a faster response this way.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
