I got my hair done at the spa and they were amazing and very nice. Mine ended up being like $70. I didnt have the trial as I saw other brides walking around that week with beautiful hair so I trusted them, plus I wanted more time to have fun at the resort. My one bridesmaid is a make-up artist and she did my make-up. It was actually fine - no airbrishing and she touched me up before pictures. There is a spray at Mac make-up that you can get to spray on your face to hold your make-up, I would recommend that.

In my investigations thus far, the costs for the hair and makeup application seems about the same either way, but there additional costs for travel and daypasses for the external artists.  The advantages to doing it at the resort are that you get a hair and makeup trial before the big day, and they have been so cooperative in booking our group.  The advantage to having the external person is that they can do airbrush foundation which is super light and we could get it all done in our room without having to trek to the spa.

What are you ladies doing?  What experiences have you had at the spa thus far?

Thanks a bunch!

I'm sure she's busy, but I freak out if I don't hear any thing! I'm about a year out, have to still set a guest list, but at least the date is secure!!!! ^_^ I have been looking at Marcia Roberts for photos and a TTD, but I have not confirmed with her yet.

I've been reading that I need to try to book the reception restaurant soon, where can I find a list of restaurants?

-Any other advise ladies?!?! What should I be doing next?! :-)

Thank you!! I am so excited, I have been wanting to move forward with the STDs. I was originally thinking about doing the luggage tags but I am really trying to work on a strict budget so I checked out Vistaprint and saw that postcard STDs are significantly cheaper than other options so I might just go with those because of the ease and the price :) Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

I'm a bit of a makeup junkie/obsessor so I can actually answer this but I also know of a few other brands that work as well!

Urban Decay Dew Me Moisturizing Makeup Spray...sets it and gives a glowy look to the skin

Urban Decay All Nighter...love this one, it says it lasts up to 16 hours, I really don't know but nothing budged when I tried it!

Model in a Bottle...i've never personally tried this one but it gets good reviews

MAC Fix+...works well, just have to be careful not to spray too much because it can make you look like your sweating lol

Thanks so much for this! I really appreciate it!  I think they sell a bunch of these brands at Sephora, so should be able to find something!  Need to look into some waterproof makeup for my TTD too!

Thanks Katelynn.  Everyone seems to have a makeup artist in their group!  I should have thought to befriend one years ago!!!

Good tip on the spray!  I'm definitely going to look into that!  I think I'm going to do the trial, at least for the makeup just to make sure!

well ladies, I guess I get to say "see ya". we lost 2 more of our group, which means we're cancelling our jamaica wedding.  my FI is so pissed about the whole thing and I'm just heartbroken. I've tried to persuade him that we could go with just us and our wedding party, which is 2 and he won't do it. he says we'd look stupid being in wedding clothes just 4 of us having a "reception' and I can't change his mind. no final alternate plans yet... still looking and it looks like it means we get married a month earlier because the weather here in November is definitely NOT wedding weather. to salvage anything we have to do a Friday wedding because we can't afford a Saturday wedding but to be save weather wise it means either Sep 30th or Oct 14th.  we're still going to Jamaica for a honeymoon and the same date that we planned to leave, just not a wedding... no beautiful pictures on the beach like I wanted.. no gazebo. life really just isn't fair sometimes...

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
