ok. so stress level is sky high right now. our whole wedding is in jeopardy. we've had people canel left and right and have now lost 7 that were supposed to attend. if we get anymore cancellations, we'll lose our group rate, which means the whole darn thing will be off. my FI is totally pissed and threatening to cancel it all. I'm actually looking at a back up site of a winery in Niagara that will cost us a huge amount of money...  I so wish we could win the lottery right now!!

ACW - I honestly felt this way too. Its harder to do what Im about to say.. RELAX.

Its JAMAICA! If people don't want to attend then thats their problem, If you have enough for your group rate then its time to put up your feet and just take in the joys of being engaged.

Believe me, this isn't my first Rodeo. Ive been married before and its best to not freak out. (not saying you are, but I know I did)

Winery in Ontario?!! REALLY? Don't bother. This wedding is for YOU and YOUR FI.. anyone else is a bonus, and who doesn't want to watch a wedding in paradise. Group Rate or not your wedding with be fantastic and beautiful.

Why bother spending 15,000.00 plus for ONE DAY for people your barely know ( or don't want to know LOL) when you can put that money to use somewhere else?

The ones that Cancelled with Regret it when your laying on the beach sipping your pina colada's and they aren't. You never know, you might have some last minute people hop on the reservation list, you might not.

Destination Weddings aren't worth the stress.. Have a glass of Wine, The more stressed you are, the more stressed the men get..

I'm gonna add my 2 cent to CDNbeatPrincess.... I've had a couple people back out last minute but we have 35 AMAZING people booked and coming!!!!! So I feel like this: I'm gonna be at the beach looking fabulous and you will just have to see the memories on facebook along with everyone else. Also, I will be laid out at the pool for a week while you're sitting at work, so take that!! Hahahaha

I say the same thing. Well said Dutchie600. I have people backing out that said they would come, I'm not streesing because I will be on beach and they won't be, so there! LOL

We were in the same boat as you actually, one of my best friends (I was her MOH) cancelled on us and my husbands brother also cancelled on us who were both in the wedding party...we became to fee a little defeated. HOWEVER, we had the time of our lives with the people that did come and I wouldnt have changed it for anything in the world, I actually think that if those people that didnt come came it would have been a very different week. Llike others have said dont worry and try to put on a happy face. You and some amazing people are going to Jamaica for the wedding of your dreams...dont let anyone take that away from you!!! :)

We got our album yesterday from our photographers...just a trial before they print it so I thought I would share

I just had my wedding Friday june 10th and I am now back from vacation. Everything was absolutely amazing and stress free. I had a guest list of 40 people. We met with Chandlyn the very first day in the afternoon and planned the whole wedding in 10 minutes. We informed her of all our outside vendors which was fine, no fee. However it does not get discounted off the package if you decide to use your own photographer and florist. Even though we had our own photographer, the resort photographer was also there because it was included in our package.

We gave her our things (chair sashes, fans, petals, table runners) for the weddings the day before to be set up in the morning. When she finds out your outside vendors, she contacts them for the rest of your stay, we only called them one time to settle a balance.

THE WEDDING DAY- husband hung out at the pool, I, at the beach until two hours before the wedding lol so crazy. When I got to my room, Chandlyn delivered flowers to decorate my room which i later found out was planned for me by my husband. Love him . When I was ready, i met with her in the lobby at the set time with my girls,( actually we were late but shes so relaxed about everything. everythings "no problem") then we rode off to the beach in a golf cart type of car, very spacious.

We had our reception at the Garden Grill, not our first choice. But the Dolce Vita was closed on that day :/ Everything still turned out great because at 630 no one is really at the restaurant that early. However, be aware it is a lil hot in there, it has AC but its so big that the air does not circulate well. To add very few people complained though, that I know of. Also, no music is allowed to be played there, but the option to do speeches (with no mic) is doable.

The time between the ceremony and the reception worked out well as most of the guests went to their room to shower and change because the beach ceremony became a little hot with the sun.

The reception was followed by a later after party, we advised our guests to meet with us at 11pm at the disco. We had a blast ! took over that place, the music they played was kind of old reggae and hip hop which was kool but we tipped the DJ for song requests helped.  Anyway when you're with family and friends you always have the best time.

After much thought we decided renting the gazebo for two hours was not worth it for us. (Don't know if this helps but we are in our twentys but we had a mix of young and old at the disco)

The next day, we all went on the catamaran excursion, Where we went snorkeling, Climbed Dunn Rivers Falls and partied on the boat with drinks on the way back, the boat speeds up so that you get wet on the way back. What an amazing adventure!! Strongly advise everyone to do it.

For the rest of the stay, we met with different groups of our guests spending quality time here and there. We spent the last 4 days of our 2 wk vacation relaxing alone (everyone left on sunday after the wedding.)

We didnt expect spending so much time greeting our guests (because we chose to receive them upon arrival with Welcome Bags) , the first two days we were so busy that we only spent 5 min at the pool before we have to do something else.

Here is a photo from our special day enjoy ! Any questions plz feel free.

thanks ladies, very much for the support, and believe me I really do understand what you're saying. Dutchie - it isn't our first rodeo either and we're both 50+ so you would think I wouldn't be stressing...

the thing is we JUST have 10 including my FI and I. we MUST make the 10 or we lose our group rate, so if we lose anymore we're done, then heaven only knows what the rate will go to if we want to keep the trip at all. yeh - there might be snow here when we go and I would love to throw that at some people, but it wouldn't make any difference, but probably not since we're November. we haven't had snow in November here now for a couple of years.  it's our children that have backed out and family. it isn't friends. it's the ones that you think you can count on, especially for what we do for all of our kids and grandbabies. we've offered to help even the little bit that we can financially and they just want it all paid for, which we can't do. the insulting part is we're the ones that will be made to pay when we come back because they "missed our wedding". at this point we can't win no matter what we do.

so please keep fingers crossed for us that we at least keep our 10. then we'll have a grand total of 6 people (woohoo) cheering us on when we get married. the other 2 are our wedding party.  I'm almost ready to hope that some are holding out for the last minute rate - I know it will be quite a bit cheaper than what we're paying and we got a fantastic rate - $1250 all in with the upgrade to the Royal Golden. maybe if they do that they'll end up on the other side of the resort and I can ignore them....

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
