Any Gran Bahia Principe Runaway Bay Brides out there?

Thanks lsmith!

We have requested the Italian but Chandlyn told us we would know closer to the date. I like your approach with everything being laid back. We are definitely that way as well but we have so many different groups of people from various points in our lives joining us for the day that we thought making a seating chart would help everyone to feel more comfortable.

When you think back to the Italian do you think you can put a seating chart up on the wall? We are also renting the gazebo and I am very excited about our dance party. I will be sure to make some playlists for the DJ to use!

Thanks!

Thanks for all of the information lsmith!

We booked the gazebo for our group as well!  Can you just clarify the total cost of the gazebo reception.  When I spoke to Donnalee she said $500 + $22/person for the bartender.  I was just confused by the mention of the extra $250 to set up?  Is this included in the $500 or separate?

This awful DJ is really disappointing!  I've heard this a few times, so it must be true!  I was kinda hoping it was just a few people with different taste in music, but I keep hearing the same.  If you asked him to play particular songs, would he?  Does he have a bunch of music that you can pick from?  I'm really not tech savy and don't even own an ipod, so I was hoping to avoid making my own wedding playlist!  Do you have any suggestions?  I guess if all else fails, maybe I can get the bridal party to start putting something together....

First-  we got the DJ and his music was awful!!!  Luckily we did our own playlist and gave him our ipod and got him to play all of it - his stuff was like all crazy remixes and stuff (we only listened for as long as it took to run up to our room to get the ipod - he didn't want to play the CDs we had with us - but he will if that's all you have....)......  But, I will say that the sound system was amazing, and in my opinion totally worth the extra $250 to set it up!!!  I can't imagine that a docking station would carry too far since you are outside and it's breezy (not too windy though), and with the ocean right next to you.....  Honestly, the sound quality was amazing!

We got the bar set up and I'm really glad we did....  They charged us $22 per adult for the 2 hours, so it ended up costing about $1000 but the bartender was amazing - even made a custom drink for our guests!  I didn't even look into getting bottles ourselves, cause I just couldn't be bothered...  There were no stores around the resort that i saw, so I would say you'd have to buy everything from the resort.....  But it's a really long walk for anyone to get drinks at the other bar, so you will definitely need something if you rent the gazebo

They shut things down pretty much exactly at the 2 hour mark - I think they gave us 5 minutes extra or so, and the DJ warned us that he was starting our last song....  As soon as the music ended they started packing up the equipment and bar - they didn't waste any time!  We had ours from 8:45-10:45 so we headed right over to the disco from there.....  The karaoke bar is a great option as well!

We got married April 5,and the sun set pretty much at exactly 6:30, but I would think it would be a little later in June.  I'd say prob about 6:45 or 6:50

Hope that helps - you're all gonna love the GBP - we can't wait to go back......

Welcome!

A sand ceremony is where the bride and groom (and sometimes other people, such as moms, or children) each have a container of sand, usually different colors, and they pour them together into one container.  The judge usually reads out something while its going on.  Try searching on this site and you will find lots of peoples containers, and readings they used.

As for my dress, I'm just going to put it in a bag, like the kind used for mens suits.

Welcome welsh and tamandrob congrats!!!!

Busy bee I was told it was 500 if you are renting the gazebo and DJ without the DK it's 250. I am bringing a ipod and making a playlist just hope there is somewhere to plug it in. My FI is using this opportunity to get a expensive docking station he has been looking at the bose one which is suppose to be really good and loud.

Hi BusyBee,

FleetMac Bride is right - the gazebo is $250 alone, or $500 including the DJ.

I'm not sure about requests for the DJ, I'm sure he'd play what you want (if he has it) since it's your wedding, but at the disco they didn't play any songs we requested!  We didn't ask him what music he had - we knew we wanted our own playlist from the beginning.  The only time we heard his music was while my sister ran up to the room to get her ipod....  I wasn't looking forward to making my own playlist either, but my sister offered to do it for me in lieu of a wedding gift so it worked out really well!  Anyone in your wedding party that might be willing to take this on for you???

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
