Any Gran Bahia Principe Runaway Bay Brides out there?

We're doing the sand ceremony as well...we got a unique pedestal vase thing from Home Goods store with a cover...I think we are going to try to glue the cover on as it only sits on top of the vase...but perhaps a candle would be another option too!

We got our sand at Michael's in the kids section...our colors are pink and orange and at the stores around here, they had the hot pink, but no orange...but they had both in the kids toys area...and it was only $1.99/lb.

I saw the sand on a US website as well so I'm thinking maybe I can do the Michaels set from here, then maybe check out the sand elsewhere.  would a melted candle work as far as sealing it up??  that's a pretty cool idea.

WEDDING REVIEW

We just got married april 12,2011. everything went really well. Chandlyn met with us the day after we arrived, a letter arrived the day before confirming this appointment. Chandlynn was awesome, I have had never had any complaints about her. I asked her about how many weddings she was doing this month, 45 in the month of April and when you see the effort that is put in you will know why she can't always be prompt.  Everything we discussed with her was done to perfection and she even sewed me into my dress because my zipper split 10 mins before the ceremony. We did the free package and they treated us awesome. I did not like the free bouquet thought, I had brought my own bouquets and used the free one as a throw away.

The ceremony was perfect, we did the sand ceremony with the together forever kit from michaels. Make sure your husband to be sets it up. We both got a bit teary during the vows but all was well. The pictures were good but not great. we got 83 burned on to a CD  for $150 USD. We got about 25 that we really like.  We ate at the dolce vita, italian and had chicken with risotta. If you have anyone with peanut allergies please specify because it says there are walnuts but my mom who is allergic to peanuts had an allergic reaction.  The food was good, the wedding cake was ok but i enjoyed the tiramisu better. We went to the piano bar and danced and later went to the show and disco, we had fun. We had 22 guests and not all were interested in dancing so I did not see a point in renting the gazebo and the cost did not seem worth it to me for the few hours it was rented for.

Overall I would recommend the resort and wedding at GBP :) Good luck to the brides and grooms. Just relax and everything will be irie !

Congrats!! That's great to hear that you had a good time. We leave on Saturday for our April.28th wedding. So excited :). We switched over to the free package so it's good to hear that you were still treated just as well. We're at the Dolce Vita and having the chicken as well. Did you guys do speeches at all at dinner? We were planning to and hoping to hear that it's not too "intrusive" to the other guests in the restaurant (as I know it's semi-private)

Oh my gosh! I have missed so many posts but I have been running around with my head chopped off trying to get quotes. Finally, I think I got a quote that i'm happy with even though my guest are already complaining lol. I booked for May 24th, 2012!

Big Congrats goes out to all the new brides and the brides who are getting married in the next week fews. A big thank you to all who have posted reviews and pictures. i really hope that brides continue to post things because I need my wedding fix and I have a very long way to go! lol

Photos are big thing for us. I will be contacting people about this but it is nice to know what comes with the free package and how much extra to expect if we did use the resort for photos. I too will be bringing my own brooch bouquet and just throwing the free bouquet. thank you TMwedding2011 and I hope we can see more of your pictures!

We plan on sand ceremony too. I still have purchase the umbra ether frame and the glue to glue it together. Might also get glass etching stencils for the frame as well so that i can put our names and wedding date on it. we will see how crafty I get after I make all my invites because I might be all crafted out lol

I just got back last week, and the resort, the gazebo, and chandlyn are all amazing!  No need to stress over the details ladies, seriously everything is confirmed once you get there...

Tris, speeches won't be an issue in the Italian - we were in the big semi private room (the one in the pics that others have posted) but there was actually another wedding party in the restaurant with us in another smaller room on the other side.  Don't worry about other weddings on the same day as yours - you wouldn't even know they were happening, and if we didn't see the wedding party in the other room on the way to the bathroom we wouldn't have known they were there.  You aren't allowed mics for the speeches, but everyone can hear just fine....

Also, as for the requirement for pants and closed shoes at the restaurants, it is only Don Pablos that requires pants and no one had any issues at any of the restaurants with wearing sandals.

The gazebo reception was amazing and I'm so glad we did it - Chandlyn changed us $22/person for the bar for the 2 hours, rather than $30.  We were at the resort for 12 days, and it looks like we were the only one that rented the gazebo for the reception - so don't worry about it if you don't want to spend the $$.  We saw wedding parties all over the place- the piano bar, the lobby bar, etc...  But I really did love our reception at the gazebo!

Also, I had my hair and makeup done at the resort spa and they did a great job....  But if I were to do it again I would prob do the makeup myself....

Good luck to you future brides - you're going to love every minute of it!!

Just wondering if you ladies who bought sashes had a lot of difficulty with the company?  I tried to purchase them on two different credit cards but my orders keep getting cancelled because according to them, my billing address does not match the mailing address! I even called the bank to confirm, and they're the same! I tried emailing them but they refuse to process the order! Did anyone else have this difficulty?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
