Any Gran Bahia Principe Runaway Bay Brides out there?

Recommended Posts

I love the travel mug idea!  I've been torn about the OOT bags because I can't figure out how I'd get everything down there without spending an arm and a leg, but I do want to give my guests something.  I'll have to check into this more :)

Just got a reply from Chandlyn.. WOW fastest reply EVER!!!

I sent her the NEW long form birth certificates from Nova Scotia - they have a hologram on them as well have their own stamp on them certifying they are originals.

Chandlyn,

Can you PLEASE confirm you have received my Birth Certificates & Passports by email (sent last week) and that my documents are in order?

I am going away for 4 weeks and need to be sure you have everything  you need for our marriage.

Thank you
Erin

Love your bags!!! We actually got one love with our wedding date engraved inside our rings.

Our bags are way to heavy and big to bring down to Jamaica, plus I am a heavy packer so we are handing them out when we get our tickets from our TA which is like 2 weeks before we depart. We plan to drop them off at everyone's house then so they can go through them and pack things where they want.

This is where we got our stuff that your searching for

Stadium Cups (prob going to order from Ebay) - 4imprint.ca - amazing to work with!!

-aloe - got from Avon when they were like 80 cents each for a big one

-face clothes or bath puffs - $ store - 3/$1

-key card holders (I got my BM's cute Coach ones but everyone is getting plastic ones...as cheap as I can find!) - ebay - I think they are called like transverse card holders or something weird like that

-chap stick - again Avon

-puzzle books & Pens - $1 store

-also going to get some Jamaican postcards - we did this too - I made them from Vistaprint...that site is SO damn addicting!

Our guests are arriving on Thursday and I'm trying to figure out how to get everyone their bags (I asked Bev/Chandlyn about it but haven't heard back yet).  Does anyone know how they are getting them to their guests?  I was hoping I could have the front desk hand them out or something but I'm not sure I trust leaving them at the front desk all day...

But anyway so far we are have:

-Hand sanitizers from Bath and Body Works

-Flip flops from Old Navy

-Flip Flop playing cards (7.99/dozen OT)

-Squirt guns

-Bubble Bath tablets

-Silly Bands in luau shapes (I know kinda dumb but at my bachelorette party we had a 'consultant' who showed us the latest toys..if you know what I mean...and she gave us silly bands in shapes of well...'parts' and it will be funny for them to get the bracelets in their bags)

-first aid kits, pepto, tylenol, etc

-Just started making our "Jamaica Facebook" which is a front and back page of pictures of everyone (thank you facebook!), name, relation to us, and where they traveled from.  I'm going to get them printed out and put one in each bag so everyone knows who is who.

-Passport Covers that I'm going to mae.  I got a sewing machine for xmas..bought super cute material..now it's just learning how to make them and finding time to get it all done!

-I ordered personalized OOT bags from Oriental Trading (24 bags for $29..not bad!)  Here is a pic: I love them!

Still hoping to get:

-Stadium Cups (prob going to order from Ebay)

-aloe

-face clothes or bath puffs

-key card holders (I got my BM's cute Coach ones but everyone is getting plastic ones...as cheap as I can find!)

-chap stick

-pashminas for the girls

-puzzle books & Pens

-also going to get some Jamaican postcards to stick in the bags, addressed to us with a stamp so that when we get home from our honeymoon, we'll have mail :)

On Friday we are taking everyone on a snorkeling cruise in Ochos Rios then off to Margaritaville for a bit.  We found a great tour from Jaital Tours and it was only $32 p/p, transportation from Resort included :)  So we also might put a disposable underwater camera in the bags...but not sure are going to be able to find them cheap enough.

Can't wait to hear everyone else's ideas!

Hi Ehpage,

When did you send your email to Chandlyn? I sent one on February 22nd and one on the 27th with title "Please Confirm Receipt" but still nothing.

I'm starting to panic, we leave in less than a month! I don't want to bomboard her with emails, but i may have to come to that i guess...

these are some terrific ideas!!  thanks everyone that posted. that gives me things to work with without being big, bulky and expensvie!!

I'm surprised now because the link from toes says "notarized" but Chandlyn is saying everything is ok with what erin sent. but I wonder if that is because of the new NS raised seal that makes it look like it's notarized.

I have a day off tomorrow and I'm going to phone and try and settle this question one way or another. I'm too worried about getting all the way down there and finding out we need cert documents and we don't have them!!

The pass is only required if the guest isn't staying on the resort.

On another note, is anyone doing OOT bags?  If so, what are you putting in them?  For those that are doing OOT bags are you also doing a group excursion?

I think they'll be happy either way! A group excursion is so much fun too! We didn't book one for everyone but once we got down there a bunch of us talked about who was interested in what and about 14 of us went on an excursion the day after the wedding and it was a blast! We did the ziplining and white river tubing and we were pretty much our own group with the exception of like 4 or 5 other people. It really was an amazing day and you and your guests will llove it! Its something fun to do off the resort!

I'm undecided though.  What are everyone's thoughts on skipping OOT bags and just taking everyone on a "welcome" excursion?

This must be a new thing or something because I never once heard anything about it when I was planning my wedding. All we had to do was scan and email the copies and just make sure we brought the orginals down with us which she then took a photocopy of then. Are they telling you girls you don't need to bring down the originals then? Because I was always told even though I sent copies weHAD to have the originals present with us in Jamaica.

HELP US!

Ok so just a heads up about the squirt guns. My sister was packing my nephews toys when we were getting ready to head down and soemthing told her to check the airlines restrictions and it was a definate no no to pack any toys that resembles a gun, grenade, knife, etc Basically anything that looks like a weapon you aren't allowed to pack because when it goes through the scanners they can't tell if it's plastic or real so they'll tear your luggage apart and most likely confiscate it as well. So I jsut wanted to give you a heads up about it because I never would have though about it but it does make sense!

We had 4 bags total. 1 each of our clothes and stuff and 2 with wedding things (which to be honest 3/4 of those bages was our oot stuff lol) so you should be good!

All this talk about birth certificates means I guess I should start figuring out what we need to send in soon.  Thanks ladies for reminding me!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
