Any Gran Bahia Principe Runaway Bay Brides out there?

Recommended Posts

I havent heard yet from her either, but im assuming shes overwhelmed with the new position since beverly left.  Im not worried since we are getting married there october 18, but im sure if i was getting married april 2011 i would be getting nervous.

we are also using marcia roberts as out photog, she quoted us $1100 for the same package, but we booked last year and locked in knowingly her prices would go up a little.  we are also doing TTD with her the next day at the resort, thats another $300.

good luck with everyones plans etc :) it seems like a lot of the vendors like tia flowers and wedding coordinator take forever to get back by email.

The $75 day pass could be a new thing this year.  According to my travel agent things may be changing since new wedding packages are being released from the Bahia's head office.  She said that's she's received 2011 wedding packages for the Bahia's in Mexico so GBPJ may be getting new packages soon too since it's all the same chain.  I can only assume if you have something in writing stating there's no vendor's fee GBPJ would have to honor it though.

On another note, is anyone doing OOT bags?  If so, what are you putting in them?  For those that are doing OOT bags are you also doing a group excursion?

Hey ashley - when I talked to Chandlyn I asked about an outside photographer from Jamaica and she told me "no problem" but never mentioned a charge for it. but now I'm going to ask.  we're using merrick cousley in jamaica. his cost is $1050 US for:

all day coverage - preparation to reception

dvd with all images (300 to unlimited) high res

photo retouch

his brochure says a travel fee is applicable but in one of his emails he said it was included with my package, so I want to double check. but for $350 more you get 150 4x6 prints, 3 8x10 matted prints, a wedding album that holds 200 4x6 prints and 3 months of a family online gallery to share all the pics

so I think both are comparable in terms of price

i'm curious about the OOT bags too??? I'm trying to figure out how to transport them along with all the other stuff... and what do you do for the older people? they won't care about flip flops lol I checked on ordering travel mugs and they ain't cheap!! not when you only need a small number of them. so hey - I'm open to ideas and suggestions!!

Hi, I was told by Bev, that you do have to pay the fee of $75 to get an outside photographer in.
She told me that back in November.

I am using Merrick, we already paid him 50% of the price of our package to secure him for the date of our wedding. On his invoice, the $200 for travel for the day of the wedding, was included. The remaining of our balance he said was due 2 weeks before the wedding. We are going with the package that includes the 3 8x10s, I think it costs about $1400.

I am doing the OOT bags for sure, but I have not figured out exactly what I am putting in them yet. I will post about it whe I figure it out. I know that I am going to try to keep them small, with small items so that its not as much trouble transporting all of it to Jamaica.

hey there.  we are also going with merrick cousley and yes we were told that there was a $200 travel fee, have also paid the 50% and that was included in the invoice, we are also going with the $1050 package ( i like the fact that you get a min. of 300 but if he takes 1000 on your day that's how many you get!!)

when i talked to chandlyn about getting him in she did tell me that we had to pay the $75 for him to get in.

we too are doing OOT bags and am sooo uncertain as to what we are putting in them.  i deffinitely want to do a mug or larger cup, and we are also doing bamboo hand fans i found them at this site (blissweddingsmarket.com) they come in different sizes and colours and i think are quite cute and appropriate for a beach wedding!  i've also read on different sites that i've looked at about getting personalized tumblers (that are pretty big) from somewhere on ebay... i haven't looked yet, but from the pics i've seen online they're pretty good lookin too!  i too would be very interested in others ideas!!

For the OOT bags I've heard of other brides doing beach towels but that can be pretty pricey and difficult to transport.  So I'm debating maybe doing facecloths instead since the Bahia's are spanish resorts and they don't generally give facecloths unless you specifically ask for them. I'm undecided though.  What are everyone's thoughts on skipping OOT bags and just taking everyone on a "welcome" excursion?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
