akua420 - my FI is very much like yours, more of the we're only doing it once so get whatever...although sometimes his pennypinching rears it's head and I get more of a response like acw271011's  lol!  Then I just babble and rationalize the heck out of it until he shrugs it off  haha!

I won't repeat what he said.  lol  I'm worried too that little hidden costs are going to start coming out of the woodwork.... then I'll really have something to answer for!!

Yeah, my FI has a few times said it was a waste, and it was always small things that I was thinking "what the hell?" about, hahaha.  And I didn't want an expensive photographer, just like my FI so no arguments about that beacuse we were on the same boat.  And my dress was on sale, so that came in WAAAY under budget.

Totally off topic from what we have been discussing...though I know we are kinda all over the place...but do any of you ladies know if they have a pressing service there and if so, how much THAT costs?!  My dress is a soft taffeta so it shouldn't wrinkle too much...but may need a spot touch up to look perfect for the day...I am bringing a portable steamer, but my seamstress/alterations lady said that the resort should offer those service?!  Anyone?

Hey Ladies

As far I can remember all the tables are rectangular. At both restaurants.

We had our wedding at 1 and I enjoyed the break. All my guest ate lunch, went back to their rooms and went swimming. My husband and I had our pix done, ate jerk chicken (best ever) and went back to our room to chill.

We had the private reception at the gazebo after dinner and everyone LOVED it!! The only problem was that the 2hrs went by too fast! I couldnt believe it when the dj said it was the last song!

We also did the beach wedding, not the gazebo. They didnt decorate anything, but I was totally fine with that. I'm sure if your willing to pay the extra money you could get whatever you want. I really wanted the simplicity of the beach...it was the whole reason I went to a caribbean island! The wedding was directly to the right of the gazebo, so you do still get to walk down an aisle!

Here is a pic of the wedding ceremony....the people standing chose to stand...there were enough chairs... cheesy.gifDSC_3209.jpg

OMG I got a quote today for $200 for the webstreaming!! from the same fella. If you really want the webstream beat him down on the price.. his reply was this to me today..

O'Neil - It cost  US $200.00 to stream the ceremony, I would have to know asap if you want to do this because
I am getting a lot o bookings for jobs.

Me - Hi there. Ok thanks for the quote. I will discuss with my man and will let u know but I doubt he will want to pay that much for the few people who would watch it. Most will be there with us.

O'Neil - Ok let me konw maybe we can work something out

So looks like you are able to beat them down on the price.. I have decided NOT to go with the webstream.. not necessary in my situation

From oneil rumble:

To do what you requested i normally charge US$ 250.00 and if you are interested in doing a wedding
video of the entire wedding i would only charge you US$450.00 in total for both.
Normally the wedding video alone starts at US$ 350.00 so your getting quite a deal.
The video will be digitally filmed & edited with music of your choice and you will receive two copies of the wedding
on DVD.

i don't know if i'm going to go for it, but for anyone who's interested here's the info!

I was actually wondering the same thing earlier today.  I saw in a post from another bride quite some time ago that the resort did not have a steamer although the flower place would do it for $90usd.  I'm not sure if GBPJ has since invested in a steamer, but if anyone ever gets a response from Bev or the assistant Chandlyn please let us know.  Thanks ladies!

Hey ladies ,lets discuss tipping

I read on here that some people are tipping their WC, and all of tha tstuff.  Who are you all going to tip?  Are we supposed to tip the WC?  I figured the cab driver for our excursion, the maid, bartender, but what about the other ones?  The photographer?  Help!!!  I dont want to not tip and look like a b*tch when you're supposed to!

When I stayed here on my personal vacation last May I tipped my maid every other day, bartenders as and when they were giving exceptional service, waiters at the a la cartes.. again if service was great..

I don't think the WC really needs to be tipped.. I mean isnt' that her job? I'm a travel agent.. I don't get tipped by my clients if I find them a great price.. I also don't get tipped for exceptional service..

I always had a few $1.00 bills in my pocket for people who provided great service.

The staff didn't really expect tips.. they're not like in the DR, Cuba or Mexico at all..

Good to know, thanks for that info, maybe i'll try and knock him down a bit. I would love to have that service and both of us have HUGE families and alot of them won't be able to be there with us.  All my grandmother has been asking from day one is if there's any way she can watch the wedding... she doesn't even know how to turn on a computer but i'm going to make sure someone sets everything up for her that day so we can at least skype that morning :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
