Any Gran Bahia Principe Runaway Bay Brides out there?

Recommended Posts

Hi Ladies, I have a question about cocktail hour after the ceremony.  Are you having one? If so where and are you paying for an open bar and appetizers? My FI and I are still considering it but our TA feels that it is a waste of money.  So she suggests that we have our guests meet us a one of the bars after the pictures.  Since the drinks are flowing freely at the bars we save money and it gives the guests the option to stop by their rooms to freshen up as well. Any suggestions?  Oh and does anyone know what is the closest bar to the Garden Grill Restaurant.  Thanks!

closest bar to the steakhouse grill restaurant is either the pool bar (it's on 2 levels.. one side of it in the pool one side of it above the pool on ground level) or the lobby / piano bar is only a short walk away and a set of stairs up.

I'd say meet at the lobby/piano bar, it's much nicer than the pool bar and has seating. The pool bar is standing only.

We're going there for our honeymoon too right after the wedding, and I am more excited about that than anything else, hahahaha.  I'm excited about the wedding, but after 7 years together, we're a;ready an old married couple, hahahha.

Best way to recgnoize our group... my grandpa is the 6'4" man in the wheelchair who TALKS TO EVERYONE and likes to make jokes... oh, and like I mentioned my entire group is pretty rowdy... we'll be around the pool, probably the swim up bar most of the time ;)! Hehe.

Are we seriously getting married at the same resort AND honeymooning at the same resort? WELL, I'm going to need detailed reviews on both, haha! We both wanted to do a honeymoon but staying another week at the same resort seemed a little blah for us... we'd rather go somewhere different with no kids allowed and a little more romantic. What type of room are you staying in? We're staying in one of the villa honeymoon suites :)

We wanted to get married earlier too, but both of FI's brothers are still in university and only finish up mid April and his family didn't seem like they'd budge on them missing school. Sigh... I want to get away from the cold Winnipeg winter already!!!

Thanks for the suggestion.  I will definitely look into having it at the piano bar.  I do remember my TA saying that Beverly suggests we have it there but to have a private cocktail hour is $700 to rent the space plus the cost of the bar.  So I think we will just keep it open to everyone and take it over for the cocktail hour J  Thanks again!

Update from one of my clients who I just sent to this resort last week.. I asked them to have an overall look over the hotel cause I know there is construction going on there right now (they're building another wing to this property) They said the 2nd pool bar was closed the entire time they were there.. and the construction was pretty bad.. noisy and dusty.. Sure hope they get a move on this and get it finished up before we all head down for our weddings!!

As I get more feedback I will update you all. I've stayed here already so am not worried about the food or service.. what I am worried about is scaffolding etc in the background for photos.. When looking at the hotel from the beach (as showing in all photos) they are currently building a new wing to the left of the resort. Where the 2nd pool bar is, directl in front of it.. that would prob explain why the 2nd bar was closed the entire week..

Thats why we wanted to go somewhere else too, plus some family is staying 2 weeks and we wanted to be away from them just the two of us. We're also staying in the honeymoon villa!  Hahahaha!  Too funny.  When is your date again?  I'll be able to show you TONS of pics when I get back, from both hotels!!!  Did you see the pics of the secluded hottubs they have aaround the reost?  Looks SO PRETTY!  I can't WAIT!  I think I may be more excited about that then the wedding, hahahahha

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
