Any Gran Bahia Principe Runaway Bay Brides out there?

oh Tris- what a bummer!!! I bugged Beverly non stop until I had confirmation about our date so I hope she just didn't say yes just to shut me up! lol.  I'm glad you didn't have to change your date, that would be ridiculous, esp since it was their fault. Good job staying positive, I'm sure everything will be great from here on out!! :)

But I agree with everyone- Beverly has been insanely difficult to get a hold of.  I emailed her 3 weeks ago and still haven't heard back.  And all I really want to know is when (and how much) I need to put money down for our wedding...  She said that the date is booked but I figured they would want some money to make sure we dont cancel or something - not that we would, stds are out and theres no looking back now!!!!  Hopefully she's just really busy right now but will catch up on her emails soon!

Its coming up to 5 weeks since i last emailed Beverley to ask how much more it will cost me to decorate the gazebo. Not going to bother emailing anymore cos i will be there in just over 2 weeks and can pin her down for answers, literally! lol

Jeesh that is crazy!  Are you using Taiflora for your florist?  You could contact them or any other florists down there to get a quote to decorate the gazebo (other than the tulle that I believe is included).  If you want flowers for the gazebo I would try to contact someone bc it would stink if you got down there and they were already booked up and couldn't help you!!

wow girls...I've been MIA for a while now because I've been super busy at work then enjoying the summer when I wasn't working. I've missed quite a bit!

First off tris that really sucks about your date. I know there was a while when I was only getting emails from the assistant and then when I did hear from beverly herself she ahd no clue about anything me and her assistant said. I know its long distance but honestly to all you girls who are super worried (dont worry I was so there) I would give her a call.

Waiting for the emails sucked, I was getting frsutrated and my travel agent knew I wasn't going to book anything until I heard my wedding date was confirmed so she got in contact with her and told Beverly to call me. Within 5 minutes I was talking to her and every question I had was answered and basically here's what she said:

Yes we have you date confirmed and although it says you have to give us a deposit, I assure you your date is secure and we wont charge your card until you're down here. They have lots of brides securing dates and there computer system is so slow (I waited 5 minutes for her computer to load my file) so that's why it takes her so long to reply sometimes. Between actual weddings going on and communicating with the slow computer to future brides, there is no time to charge the deposits.

Trust me I still get annoyed when I wait 3 weeks to hear back from her, but just speaking to her on the phone I could tell she is a very nice person who is willing to do whatever to make you happy on your big day, so I'm trying to cut her some slack and be more patient or just not even email her at all because half the time it's no problem man, we'll do it once your here. lol

Well its good to be back and hopefully I'll be around more often now and congrats Susann'Dean your time is sooo soon, you must be getting so excited!!!!

Hi girls,

good and bad news.

Good news is that the assistant of Beverly finally got back to me (after 1 month). She also sent me pictures of two restaurants:

1. This is the italian restaurant

ITALIANREST.jpg

2. Thats the garden grill restaurant

decoratedGrillrestaurant.jpg

both restaurants are for semi-private receptions and she also told me that we would need 100 people to get the private reception. that made us a little sad because we really considered to book a whole restaurant for ourselves but we have only 60 people attending our wedding.

here is also some other information, in case you are interested (blue are my questions, red are the answers)

1.       At what time should we plan the reception dinner? Dinner is 6:30pm -8:30pm
2.       What reception locations are available (both private & semi-private) for about 50-70 persons? It would be great if you could include one picture for each location or recommend a room for this number of persons (from what I found online, I liked the restaurant with the columns and the huge ceiling with windows, donâ€t know the name though) We offer the Italian and the Grill for semi-private dinner. Please see attached photos. For private dinner we offer both restaurants. Private is for a minimum of 100 persons and this requires the  closure of the restaurant  at a cost of US2500 which includes set up, music, mic and podium. Menu is at an additional cost.
3.       I was reading online that Gran Bahia has a Piano Bar. Would it be possible that one of my friends would play our first dance song on the piano and another friend of ours would sing? Is there a microphone available? Please note that this is not usually permitted so I would therefore need authorization from my manager. You however do have the option of having the dance at the gazebo with the rental of a keyboard  with speaker and mic
4.       After the reception dinner we would like to reserve the DJ for the Gazebo from 8.30 to 11.30pm on December 4th, 2010. This can be arranged at a cost of US500 and includes the DJ. please note however that the latest time is 10:45pm
5.       We would also like to have a steel drum band playing during our ceremony and the cocktail hour while our guests are waiting for us to come back from the photo session. Can you reserve the band for us?Steel band is confirmed.
6.       In the reception locations, will there be music/a microphone available for speeches and dances? You may do speeches at the semi-private dinner. Dancing is however  not permitted.
7.       When we arrive in Jamaica and meet with you the first time, do you offer/show us a selection of centerpieces that we can choose from for our reception tables or do we have to bring or own. You may decide at our meeting on your selection  or  you may bring your own.
8.       Same question for chair ties/covers: are there any available at the resort or do we have to bring our own?We offer chair covers at a cost of US5 each and ties at S2.50 each. You may also purchase just the covers and bring your own ties.
9.       Do you maybe know a German-English interpreter who could translate our ceremony?
10.   Will you be there for the wedding to guide the guests where to go and what to do?Yes we will be there

I didnt think they have so many restrictions but whatever... I hope everything will work out...

thanks for all the questions and answers as I am assuming we all have a lot of the same ones.

One of my quesitons is that are we supposed to have the long rectangular tables for everyone to sit at or are the circular ones we could also use? I have also noticed in all the pics that the head table is only the bride and the groom and we want our wedding party with us...

Do you guys have a review on here of your wedding experience, we are pretty sure we are booking her for April 2011 for our wedding.  Julia KS, what did you do in lieu of the private dance at the gazebo, i think 10 ppl will be our max too, this is why i am asking, did you have a private dinner and if so what was the cost associated with this.  :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
