Hi, my name is Linsey, and my fiancee and I are planning to get married in Jamaica at Riu Ocho Rios in October 2010. We're planning to have a reception back home in Chicago after we return. We are planning to invite about 25-30 guests to the wedding (parents, grandparents, siblings, nieces, nephews, and best friends) and expect to have 150 guests at the reception.

I'm interested to hear from other brides who are planning ROR weddings and how it has been communicating (or not) with the ROR wedding coordinator. I'd also to like to hear from people who are facing the challenges associated with having a destination wedding followed by a reception back home for the rest of the family and friends. Two dresses or one? How to word the invitations? I'mwoot.gif excited for the planning!!!!!

Hi Linsey

Congratulations on your engagement. I am also planning a Riu Ocho Rios wedding in May 2011. I have been in contact with Chandlyn through email a few times getting some prices and info. I can't book anything till March 2010 so there really isn't much more I can do right now. We are planning a beach ceremony, dinner at one of the restaurants and renting out the disco for two hours that night. I am not planning on having a reception back at home. We just want to have a small wedding with close family and friends (about 30). I am getting more excited as time goes on. Good luck with all your planning.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
