Hi ROR brides,

I am getting married Feb 10, 2011.  I just have a few questions, should I rent the chairs from the florist or does the resort provide any?  We have 37 people coming, and we are deciding between the royal package or the caprice?  What did you guys choose and was it worth it? Ive seen a few people say they picked the free package and made up grades, did you save any money doing that?  I was also told that we could dinner at Mammee bay or the plantation and that for 2 hours private is $500 and that the evening private is $1000, again what did you guys do?  How was the dj, how long did you rent him for and price, are you able to barter at all when you are there, not that I like to barter but something to keep in mind.

thanks

Hey,

i am getting married there as well but not till march 26/2010. have you been in contact with the mice yet?? i asked about the chairs and you don't need to use the brown chairs, they do provide white folding ones if u ask, i thought you got them from the florist as well but you don't the resort does provide them, but if you want chair covers or bows tied on the chairs you get those supplies from the florist. i am going with the caprice package i think even though i don't want everything that's in that package. you cant customize i asked. the caprice package accommodates 40 wedding guests and i am having 80 guests so i have to pay $11.00 per extra person. i am renting the plantation for 4 hours and getting a DJ, which i heard is good. i think I'm renting him for 3 hours. what i understood the price for the DJ was $150.00 per hour and when i asked the mice how much the DJ was she told me $300.00 per hour. i was not happy about that and she told me my prices will be honored. i think if your firm of what you want you will get it. just to keep in mind :)

hope this helps,

Ashley

Hi Ashley,

Thanks so much for getting back to me.  I think we will also go with the Caprice package, I'm the same I could pass on a few things that package includes.  After I read your reply I emailed MICE right away about the chairs and honoring the $150 DJ, I was totally shocked when you told it was $300 an hour. Last year when we were picking packages the DJ price was $150 an hour, crazy how quickly things change.

My first invoice from the florist, I thought seemed crazy high, around $1400 USD, that included chairs and chair covers, so thanks again for saving me some money when it comes to that, we are totally using the white folding chairs, no chair covers.  The florist charges $11 USD a chair cover, and $7 a chair.

Are you guys using the resort photographer??  We opted not to, and decided to fly our own down with us.  Crazy extra cost but hopefully it works out.

We should keep in touch, I'll let you know how our wedding goes and kind of what to expect.  Our wedding coordinator there is Keisha, seems to be really helpful.

HI Courtney,

Ya i got a couple invoices back from the florist that were totally out of the question. i had to talk with the florist on the phone and organize everything with her which was a little easier, cause everything is soo pricey. I'm still waiting on my final invoice.. yikes!!

We also decided not to go with the resort photographer, we actually got another photographer from down there, Marcia Roberts. which i heard she is good. Keisha is awesome she is our wedding coordinator as well. she is very helpful.

Well i hope everything goes smoothly for you when you get down there and yes please let me know how it all goes, any information will be very helpful. your wedding is soo soon yaaaayy!!

Ashley :)

You should consider the free ceremony and then adding upgrades to see if it is more cost effective.  It was for us.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
