Hi Group :)

I am a Beaches Negril (Jamaica) bride-to-be, having fun planning our wedding for February 6, 2010. Hints and suggestions are welcomed and appreciated. We have 60 confirmed guests and (I think) we will be doing the sit down dinner. Our wedding is confirmed for 2pm.

I learned this week that we dont have to do Preston Bailey or Martha Stewart flowers, so I think we are going to create our own centerpieces. It is waaay cheaper. Id love to hear what kinds of flowers people put in their arrangements, as of right now, we are on the roses and orchids.

We are very excited!!!

I have a dress on order, a Maggie Sottero, probably more traditional than most DWs, but I fell in love (and so did my mom). Bridesmaids are wearing peony (medium pink). The dresses are B2, from Jasmine bridal and they each got to pick their style (I asked that the dresses each be chiffon and knee or tea length). My FIs clothing is yet to be determined, he's pretty laid back and has said he will wear whatever I ask (within reason). Suggestions are appreciated on that too- I saw earlier a blog about studiosuits.com, but I dont think I have enough guts to order wedding day clothing without being able to touch the fabric before buying.

This blog seems like a great resource... congrats to all of the upcoming brides!!

Welcome to the forum!!! I am a Beaches bride as well!!!

We decided to not go with the sit down dinner. $75 per person is quite pricey for an all inclusive resort! We may be eligible for the free cocktail hour.. so we are going to stick with that!!

How are your plans coming along?

Happy planning and good luck!

Hi Alison

Congratulations on your engagement. My friend got married at Beaches Negril back in Sept 2006. It was absolutely beautiful! She had a reception in a hall on tehe beach on the grounds along with her cocktail hour. It was so nice. Going to her wedding is actually what made my decision on having a destination wedding myself. Good luck with all your planning.

Thanks yall for the welcome!

OMG! I havent gotten off of this blog since yesterday! My FI is asking if I am ok :)

We just cant decide about the reception. Hard to know what to expect without having been there. We have more than 10 rooms booked greater than 4 nights, so we get 15$ off of the reception so the dinner is 60pp... EVERYBODY wants a DJ and to have apps/bar for 3hrs with the dj is the same price as the sit down dinner... If we had 2hrs of apps/bar and 3hrs of DJ, well I am just not sure how that would work(thats 45pp)... All in all MUCH cheaper than a regular reception at home. I am anxious to get it all set but our WC is not so good at returning calls/emails so far. She is super nice when I talk to her on the phone, but well maybe shes just not worried about it yet. What has been everyone elses Beaches experience? There is so much on this blog, I could be on here for days trying to find it all (and havent figured out how to search yet)

Happy Sunday

CONGRATS!!!

My date is 10/23/10, I am doing a maggie sottero as well, like you I am not doing a DW dress. I love her style. Best Wishes!

Glad to know that I can do my own centerpieces, I spoke to Amber the other day and she stated that we had to do Martha Stewart. My FI swears they wont let me bring my own decor..... men hav not clue...lol Please keep me posted I like to know info regarding the cost of reception, we believe to have at least 50 people. Also do you have photographer. I really dont want to use the resort people.. i like to see someones work before buying the product. Thanks

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
