Hi,

I still cannot understand why the flowers are so expensive.

I have looked at the list of bouquets Maribel sent me. A full peony bouquet is only $180. Cymbidium orchid bouquet is $150 and Cala lillies are only $110. Now if you are only needing a couple of each of those flowers I cannot see how you came up with that price. Does that mean it's the fushia lillies that are the reason for the ridiculous price?

Regards,

Angela.
It is good that you asked your questions, but I would be sure to be as NICE as possible since your WC will be orchestrating your entire event. Your WC can be your biggest asset or biggest nightmare... remember that.
All of the flowers you have chosen need to be flown into mexico. I wanted orchids and a few other flowers not local and it was going to be like $500 for a bridal bouqet and $200 or so for each bridesmaid.
A couple of things to think about: vendors in Mexico are not like vendors in the US/Canada. In Mexico you pay for the reliability (the flowers, etc actually arrive at your venue on time, the way you ordered them) as well as quality. this comes with a heafty price. My concern for you is making sure that your flowers arrive on time.
Flowers are important, but I decided all flowers are beautiful so I want with roses and gerber daisies because they were local, reliable and beautiful... plus I felt like I was keeping with the theme of a mexican wedding:)

If it is important to you to have these flowers, another more affordable option is silk.

Just to play devils advocate again...I think you have to keep in mind that even though you are only using a few of each flower, that is not all they are going to ship in. They will probably have to do a large bulk order from the distributers. And since these are expensive and not local flowers to begin with you will get stuck footing some of that bill for the flowers you probably aren't even using.

I REALLY think that is where the extra cost is coming from...not just the flowers themselves.

I just don't understand how a full bouquet of peonoes only costs $180 through the resort though? They have to ship those in too??

Maybe it's because peonies are in season that time of year so they are cheaper. I know here in May and June I can buy 2 full bouquets of peonies for $10.

That might have something to do with it.

I don't want to sound like I'm justifying the price, I think it is outrageous also...I'm just trying to get some perspective on it and some extra reasons you may not have thought of on why it may be that high.

Apparently orchids are in season all year round too though.

I think what's happened is because this is now the 3rd person I have dealt with I am not sure if she has given me the correct price. She is not my WC, just the assistant of the assistant of the WC :o

I haven't heard back from them yet but I will let you all know when I do :)

There is no justification for a $650 bouquet unless you have flowers made of gold in there! Like I posted before I had mostly peonies with roses at the end of May in Cabo and the bouquet was $200, which I already thought was expensive, but was worth it to me. Not for much more than that though. Angela - you can see my bouquet here if you want. http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...-carlos-46511/

I also didn't have peonies anywhere else in other bouquets or centerpieces so the idea that you pay more for only a few I did not find to be the case (or if it was the case, it still didn't add up to $650). Angela - I think you questions regarding why an all peony bouquet is so much less is a good one. I think there would still be some mark up because there's a little additional labor/talent in placing multiple different flowers together as opposed to bunching all of one kind together, but not much! Good luck.

Wow let us know what happens! $650 sounds outrageous.

I used the sticky note list and found flowers that were in season in Mexico. I am using lillies and roses for my bouquet and lillies and daisies for my BMs. They were like $80 each. My beach decor are Gladiolas which were a great price - only $47 per vase! I thought they'd look good on the ground level b/c they are such tall flowers.

My centerpieces were only $50 or so as well and are made of lillies, daisies, and roses.

It sounds like someone made an error but if it is b/c they have to buy in bulk, I wonder if they can use the other flowers for your BM bouquets and centerpieces?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
