Thanks MayanLily,

I'm dealing with Laurie and she's been pretty good so far. I'm booking my hotel and air separately (not with a tour operator) and flying with west jet, so I think the rates are seriously only held for however many people I put the deposit down for right away. I'm only putting it down for the required 10 people. My logic is that if peeps wanna wait forevs to book, its their issue to find a good rate - not mine!

I was screaming "BUT IM THE BRIDE"

I think Air Canada Vacations quote was good for 4 weeks. By the time I finally sorted out Signature screw up and decided to go with AC, my guests only had 2 weeks to put down their own deposits. Everything worked out great that way. It sort of forced my guests to come up with a decison. Which I'm happy I did because I hear other brides complaining alot about their "undecided" guests.

Also, Tara Hartman is amazing at romantic planet!

Hey Breeze616

I initially started out with Laurie too then went to Richele and now I'm working with Tara. I think Laurie does the research and then hands your file to a group manager. She was fantastic, all the girls I have delt with have been great!!! I have to say good for you for putting your foot down. I've been going through a tuff time. On my invites (sent out in March) we asked our guests to RSVP by June 30 and strongly suggested that they put a deposit down since the prices are not guaranteed. We have not heard back from about 80%!!!! I'm not happy.... I understand that it's summer and people are not thinking about winter vacations now that summer has started but most of our guests have recently gotten married and we have not heard from them. You would think they would know how important RSVPing is. My FI and I would like to get our budget figured out so we know how much $$$ we will need between now and the wedding. So frustrating!!!! So that is my complaining for the day, gonna go sit on the patio and have a cool bevi. Hope everyone has a great weekend!!!

Breeze- that's good logic. Maybe more ppl will put down deposits if they know that only 10 are held. I'm pretty sure that Laurie actually owns Romantic Planet so you couldn't be in better hands I'm sure. Good Luck with everything. I dont know if you've already sent out STD or invites but I strongly suggest putting a rsvp by date on there. We didn't and now I don't really know my numbers. I do think that my ppl that are already booked and paid for are all that are coming but you never really know until the end. Also, just a suggestion ( I learned the hard way) but I wish I would have written somewhere that "if you are NOT planning on staying at our chosen resort, please note that day pass are $95/person" Just an idea. Wish someone would have gave me that tip 8 months ago!

Linds- I HATE NON-RSVPers! Grrr... I think people think that because they are paying for their own holiday that they can take their time to decide. They are under the misconception that DWs are min. planning wedding. That's what I thought! So not true!

I will also have a drink to that tonight! hehe

Thanks Ladies! I'm allll booked!! woot woot!!

Ya, I sent out the email saying if your one of the first 10, you get this rate - so get on it! haha

I did send out a pre-RSVP card with my save dates, so I had an idea of how many people wanted to come. But really, I know the RSVPs mean nothing. I certainly hope the 30 people who RSVP'd do come, but we'll see :)

Good thing is my sister just got married last weekend, and my family had so much fun at her wedding that some of the stragglers have decided they want to come to mine! Sweet!

our TA at Romantic Travel is Deanna and she has been great. 7 days, CAD 150 deposit each, guests paid.
You know what makes me even more frustrated is that 1/2 of our non rsvpers have recently just gotten married and would know how important it is to respond by the date requested. I don't get it!!!! I'm thinking that maybe some people think that since it is a DW then it's not the same. Rrrrggg!!! I also hope that with summer here some people have just put off the thought of having a winter vacation. Just don't get it but I'm not impressed!!!

I know its super frustrating for all those people who aren't rsvp'ing but it's just one of those things that comes with the territory of planning a wedding. We had a handful of friends that never did get back to us and I think just assumed that word would get passed along. I think about a month before our deadline, I sent out a postcard to those people who I hadn't heard from just to remind them that time was running out quickly. It got me a few of those 'no' answers that I'd already been expecting but at least now had confirmed. The people who are going to be there will make sure that you know in lots of time, whether they book early or not.

Just came across this thread and wanted to say hi to everyone! I'm just in the beginning stages of planning (still trying to narrow it down to WHERE we are getting married) so I dont have a lot of info to offer just yet, but I'm sure that will change soon enough :). I'll read through the entire thread tonight when I'm at home, but wanted to say hi for now. Hi! cheesy.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
