Cara, I am also very sorry to hear about your dad, my heart goes out to you, even though I am new to this forum, it is never easy to hear about someone losing a parent. I'm sure he will be keeping a watchful eye on you on your wedding day. Take everything one step at a time and take time to yourself when you need it.

Just wondering if anyone else bought their dress at Cameo & Cufflinks??

I would have vented about this earlier but am now just realizing the problem I might have on my hands...

I bought my Paloma Blanca from them a couple weeks ago and it happened to be during the sample sale. My dress wasn't part of the sale so they wouldn't get it out of the stock room for me to try on. Its a $1900 purchase so I was alittle irritated by that, regardless I purchased it. The girl taking my measurments had to double check & really didn't seem to know what size to order so she said "I remeber you trying on the sample a month ago & it wasn't too big so lets go with that" Here's the problem....I'm a street size 0....she ordered me a size 8. The sample that I tried on was a size 8 but totally had to be pinned quite abit. She should have known when I said i was a street 0 that 8 was WAYYYY too big for me...she is the professional and I shouldn't be expected to have to question her in sizes!! After reading up on alterations I realize that dresses can only be altered down about 4 dress sizes. So no i'm kinda freaking out wondering if it will even be able to be altered that much & how much that drastic altering is going to cost ME??

Lastly, when we went to put the $1000 deposit on the dress she asked if I had been to the Bridal Fair & I said yeas...thats how I knew of the sample sale. She asked if I had my coupon and I said I had left it at home and I said I could bring it in next time & she said she unfortunatley couldn't give me my 10% discount....Ughhh....seriously annoying. Then she said she would make a note of it and maybe they would give me a discount when I came in to pay the remaining balance

Sorry i'm just venting......& maybe wondering if anyone has had any problems like this??

Yikes Mel I don't blame you for being a little freaked out! Is there any way that you can go in to the store and have one of the managers take your measurements again just to check it out? There's a chance that since it's only been a few weeks since you put your order in that they may be able to call in the proper size for you?? I'd definitely try to straighten this out sooner than later if you can! Besides, if you talk to a manager now and they reassure you that things are fine... and then they're not down the road... at least you AND the store/manager will know that you are completely NOT at fault for any of this. Of course I don't think you are now, but then there won't be any doubt for them!!!

I guess I'm totally the person who'd rather assume the worst and try to fix it quick, than have it buried in the back of my mind for the next few months without having tried to do anything about it.

Just try to stay calm when you go talk to them again (since no doubt all the staff felt a little crazy from that sale!!) and I'm sure they'll be happy to help you sort it out quickly. Let us know how it goes!!!

            Ladies,

I just want to say thanks for everything to you all. I was recently (as in two days ago) blindsided by my FI's seemingly sudden decision (after 10 years) that he is "not ready for this" any more three months before our wedding. Well, that's the very short version of it all- but we are no longer together anymore.
Mel- as for your dress, I would get re-measured, but I ordered from Parisian (same builiding as Cameo), and I am a street size 4. My dress (which oddly came in the same day my FI broke off our life together) was a 10. That is the same size as the sample, and it was even tight on me. Wedding gowns are not usually indicicative of your street size. Still, an 8 sounds stupid. Depending on the designer, sizes are super weird. Mine by the way was a Pronovias. Dress for sale! HA. I try to be funny when I am hurting.
            Anyways.
            Good luck to you all.

OMG Christina I am so so sorry you have to go through this right now, especially after 10 years, and 3 months before. Try to take care of yourself and use whatever support system you can, hopefully you have some family here - make sure to lean on them if need be! I know it's hard to realize it now, but things do happen for a reason. I am speechless, keep your chin up and if you need anything please let us know! again, just remember to take care of yourself.

Oh Christina, my heart is breaking for you
I can't even imagine what you might be going thru right now. I know everything seems horrible right now and all you want to do is stay in bed and cry possbily, but I think things always happen for a reason. It sucks to say that, but this might have been a good thing from what your FI had said. It would have been nice that he thought of this prior to proposing to you, and definitely long before you being 3 months away from your wedding! But on the better side of this whole debacle, atleast you found out before, and not after your beautiful wedding. I have read some threads on here from brides who are having problems and big ones right after their wedding...atleast you dont have to go thru that. I know it sucks and this porbably isnt helping at all right now, but down the road you will see, that it is better now then after. So.... your going to stand tall and be strong bc you cant allow what he did to bring you down, keep you chin up and allow those who want to support you - do so, and after sometime the fire will go out and it wont hurt as much. I really hope you have the support you need outside of this forum, but if you dont, you dont have to look very far to get it from the ladies on here. We will all be thinking about you and hope that you are okay?!
I thought when my exhusband and my relationship of 10 yrs was over, it was the end of the world, and it definitely felt that way initially and for some time, but eventually, I felt like a huge weight was lifted off my shoulders and I felt so empowered. My life is soooo much better now and I always thought I knew what love was.....well I had no freaking clue....that was until I met RIley and now I know how a relationship is supposed to be like.
You will find the person you want to be with and the person that wants to be married to you soon enough....he just wasnt it. And unfortunately your FI will probably realize the mistake he made when it is much too late. It is scary getting back out there after 10 yrs as things have changed....let me tell you....but it doesnt take long to figure things out again and boy is it a lot of fun, when your ready. Second time around is a charm they say! When your ready, enjoy the freedom that you once again have, enjoy you - always take care of yourself, and when you least expect it, Mr. Right will be right around the corner waiting for you.
PLease keep us aprised of how you are making out....I really do hope you will be okay....I know you arent right now and thats totally okay and understandable....but you arent alone that is for sure.
Take care of yourself!!! Catch the hugs!

Cara-I just read back a bit and saw your post about your father- I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I can't imagine what you might be going through right now, but I am glad to hear that he was so excited about your day. I'm sure he still is for you and will walk you down that aisle on your day as well as hold your hand for the rest of you and your FI's beautiful life together.

Thanks to the rest of you for your kind words. Somehow I can't seem to stop looking on here to check on everyone' updates and planning.

I have not ventured off of this thread very much yet so haven't been on buy and sell, but I do have 22 white bags with black straps that I bought off of Amazon if anyone is interested for OOT bags. I paid $77 for the bags and $85 for shipping (rip off I know), but would be willing to work out a good price if and Calgary brides are interested. I don't need them obviously at all anymore. I also have two Costco size boxes of listerine strips that I was going to throw in there if anyone wants to buy those off of me as well.
Am going to try and return my shoes that are waaay past the return date tomorrow- I'm sure they will take them back if I start to cry in their store! Wish me luck all!

Wow Christina I'm so sorry to hear that you're going through all of this! I don't even have the words! Please know that we're here for you if you need support and that you don't have to go through this alone.

Oh Christina, I am so sorry that you have to go through this. My heart is aching for you and I am thinking of you. Although your situation and mine are different, they are both extremely hard, and one thing I found helped me was to rely on the support system I had from my friends & family. They will be there for you through the tough times. And I am sure you will need them. Try to find strength in knowing you are loved.

Thank you so much. And it's so true, he will walk me down the aisle. Which, for him, was a big thing. He was wheelchair bound by cancer that he battled 10 years ago, and he always wanted to be able to walk again, so now he can walk me down the aisle. I know he will be there, standing beside me the whole time.
