After the wedding I had mine dry-cleaned and boxed and that's how much it cost for both....just for dry-cleaning it seems expensive, but I suppose it depends on how much beadwork or other intricate detail your dress has?

Gifts haha! I was wondering the same thing when it was my turn....you don't sound greedy :) Like Nadine I didn't register anywhere...this was mainly because we asked for no gifts (again because everyone was spending so much on the trip) and we already live together and have everything we need so the things we wanted were like garden sheds etc....a little ridiculous to ask for haha. My mom also threw me a surprise shower! It was a blast and alot of people that couldn't make it to the wedding came so we got LOTS of gift cards (home depot and Crate & Barrel ...my fav!) then after the wedding a couple aunts and grandparents that didn't come gave us money...not alot but since we weren't expecting anything it was really nice!

Haha I totally just pressed enter in the middle of that msg by accident.

I was trying to say...As for drinks..HELL YEAH I'm in! Weekends are kind of no good for me for a while as well (like middle of august) but a thursday would work) If you guys start planning this and I haven't been on here msg me, for some reason it unsubscribed me from this thread and I no longer get updates and forget!

Have a good weekend everyone! Off to a patio to drink :) Peace!

Ooh, I'd totally be up for drinks! Weekdays usually work for me anyways so I'm on board.

And I'm worried that just dry-cleaning my dress won't be enough because of how gross my regular clothes were already?! It rained a ton and was really humid otherwise (more than my last trip to Mexico at this time of year) so I'm worried about yucky mold and stuff. Any recommendations for where to go?

LOL! Too funny Nadine! Well I will comment one further about cleaning my dress and add that I took my dress in today and just for the cleaning alone my estimate is $75. I'm not getting mine preserved and put away just yet so I know I'll have to pay more for that later, but for now I'm happy just getting it prettied up again and not smely anymore wink.gif

SO... otherwise we had a great trip despite the fact that it seriously rained... a lot. We wound up having our ceremony and reception inside, although we were lucky to be able to sneak in some pictures outside during breaks in the weather. But I had to miss out on my beach pics and being out on the rocks etc that I wanted because it was seriously windy and nasty. It almost looked like a mini hurricane ripped through - or at least the only comparison to one that I'll ever be able to make! Despite that though, everyone said it was super pretty still and they all liked it so I can't complain too much. Well except for one of our guests rooms that got flooded because of all the rain on our wedding night, but nothing was ruined and the hotel took care of everything for them.

Our group was still happy to get out and do all our tours/excursions and usually it was the mornings that were clear until mid afternoon before it started pouring for the rest of the afternoon. I think it was hardest on our grandparents that were there since they couldn't do much indoors.

And sadly, I don't even have pictures of my own wedding because my camera broke about a day and a half before the wedding if you can believe it. I've sent out a desperate plea to all our friends and family to email or burn us pictures ASAP but since they're all back at work already (I don't go back until Monday), it'll still be a few days before I even get to see anything! But don't worry, I'll get some posted as soon as I have them myself!

Ok, I'm liking the $75. Meghan, let me know if they did a good job. I'm a little freaked about it because I don't want someone ruining my dress BEFORE i get married.

CONGRATS on the wedding. Sorry to hear about the rain but it sounds like you had a great attitude about it. It's only rain, right? Also the camera fiasco. That sucks but what can ya do! I'm sure everyone has amazing pics for you soon. Did you hire a professional photographer? Did you get those back yet?

Hello Ladies

Well I have just spent most of the day reading all the posts and getting caught up. Hmmm where to start. I am getting married in Cuba in Feb. My FI and I were vacationing there this past Feb for our anniversary when he proposed. Having a DW was the only choice for me. Like Cara I have recently lost my dad to cancer and will find the whole wedding day very emotional but hope that it will be more layed back and relaxing.

When we started looking at resorts I contacted a TA who is based in TO and never heard from her, it was so frustrating. I don't think she has realized that she hasn't heard from me in almost 2 months. So I ended up contacting Romantic Planet and I have to say they have been fantastic!!! We have guest travelling from Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Regina, Winnipeg and Toronto. We are all flying into TO and will be on the same flight to Cuba.

I have been looking for my dress. I found one that I just love but the stores that carry that designer have sold their sample. I still have not found anything else that I like as much. I'm waiting for my mom to come here to go to a few stores with me and if I don't find anything that I love than I am going to look into getting it made. Does anyone know a seamstress that they recommend? The fabric is really important to me, the design I have picked out is so simple.

Anyways that is all that I have on the go for now. This has been such a big help and looking forward to hearing about all your weddings. Is anyones else getting married in Cuba?

Welcome Linds!

This website will help you so much as it did for most of us. This is a good forum to be on too because we all try to help each other out looking for OOT bag items and great sales around Calgary. I'm sure you'll find it very useful.

I too used Romantic Planet as our travel agent for the wedding. Had a bit of a nightmare of a time at the beginning but I have to say that they have really redeemed themselves and are now working very hard helping all our guests out. We have people coming from Calgary, Regina, Toronto and Halifax and Tara's been helpful to all of them. If you have any questions about them, just ask. I have been dealing with them since last October/November.

Good Luck with the dress hunt. I'm sure you'll find something fantastic. You have lots of time so no stressing out yet! Happy Planning :)

I had my stagette last night! So fun! We started at my bridesmaid's house and then went to Vinyl. I had never been there before but it was SO fun! Great 90's dance music!

The girls through me a beach themed shower/stagette. Here's my outfit, later they added a veil, white lei and of course beads with a "bride" shot glass!

And the freak blizzard that blew in last night just to lend a little irony to the party!

I had an absolute blast. Can't believe we leave in two weeks from today!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
