Totally not necessary!  A lot of people just do them as a "thank you" for guests that travelled to be there.  There are quite a few people that dont do them though, so dont feel like you have to :)

I'm with ya on the lots of planning and decision making to do part.  I love that the resorts take care of so much for us, but there's still a lot to figure out.  Hunting for a great photographer right now!

Do you have to use the photographer from your resort? or could you bring someone else? I´m getting married in a private villa in may 2011 and I´m using the one my WC suggested. Want to check it?

Just wondering if anyone has had any problems with Cameo & Cufflinks?? I ordered my dress at the beginning of February & they said it'd be back in July. Well....called them yesterday & they said they have no clue when my dress will be in. They don't know where it is!!! She said they have to call the designer to find out whats going on.Theres less than 6 weeks until we leave for Mexico & i'm starting to get alittle concerned. I know for a fact that i will need alterations because when i went in to buy the dress they were having a sample sale & my dress wasn't part of the sale, so they wouldn't pull it out of the stock room for me to try on, the girl ordered me a size 8--which was the sample size i had tried on prior to buying...it was clipped ALOT. She said she remembers me trying it on & that it wasn't too big...WTF?? I probably remember alittle more clearly then she would. I'm a street size 0-1...I told her that & she said she'd rather it be too big then too small...so far...i've had nothing but huge hassles from this store....so wishing i had of gone somewhere else to purchase the dress...smile27.gif

Anyone have a simaler experience?

Nope, and most people on this forum recommend NOT using the photographer at our resort (Dreams Tulum).  I've spoken to a couple photographers here in Calgary and now looking into photographers that work out of the Riviera Maya area.  Its the travel cost to take photographers there thats hurting... not just for the photographer, but for her plus assistant!

OMG they better have some sort of plan in place to get your dress done in time.  I'm sorry you have this stress right now!  Fingers crossed that your dress shows up over the next couple of days.

We got our group rate from Westjet earlier this week (Becky, our BDW TA totally pulled through for us, she's amazing!!). The rates are fantastic, but they are only good for 30 days and we need to book 10 rooms (yes, that's 20 people) It's causing us (well, me really) a lot of stress because even though we gave our guests tons of notice, and the prices are lower than we expected, most of our guests don't seem inclined to book this early! I'm trying to stay optimistic, FI keeps telling me this will all work out...so fingers crossed!!

I will be at Melrose next Thursday at 6pm! I'm really looking forward to it! I've got a couple BM dress pics, I'm going wedding dress shopping again tomorrow so I'm sure I'll have an update, and I will bring along my reception shoes which I bought a few weeks ago :D

See you next week!

for the photographer in the Riviera try www.floresjulieta.mex.tl    I´m using her because she is taking care of my wedding planning and she seems to know the area quite well. pinkie.gif

Okay, I've made a reservation at Melrose for 5 of us tomorrow at 6pm (Thursday Aug 26). The reservation is under 'Sandy' and it's in the restaurant part of Melrose (not the lounge)

So far it looks like it will be:

Don't forget to bring anything you've bought/been working on (if you want!). I know I, for one, will be bringing my reception shoes which I am totally second-guessing myself on. I definitely need some second opinions, lol.

Can't wait!! :)

I have booked Iavn Luckie Out of the Mayan. I looked at booking someone from home and taking them with me but, it just wasn't in my budget.  Then I looked at photographers from the cancun area and found a couple I liked. I emailed them and Ivan got back really quick and his prices were reasonable.  I can send you his prices aswell as William Sanchez and Sascha Glucks (all from the area).

Canadiansandy - So so sorry but I have to bail on tonight :(.  My car started making some scary noises yesterday so I got a little worried and left it with my mechanic and am carless today.

b2b2011 - Do you mind sending me a pm with some of the prices you got?  I contacted Ivan Luckie and Elizabeth Medina and Del Sol... the first two are already booked for our date and Del Sol needs more info from me, but from what I've been reading I think they are way out of my price range.  I've actually spoken to a great photographer here who fits my budget so we're considering taking her to Mexico with us - would be cheaper than Del Sol anyways lol.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
