Then after its done she sends in the stuff to the registry to have the marriage registered so by the time you get back (i think it takes three weeks) it will be all ready and you can go order a marriage certificate etc. ALso, we asked for no vows or anything, just simple and to the point b/c we didnt want it to overshadow what we would call our 'real wedding' in mexico.

The whole thing probably took 20-30min. I thought we could just go to the courthouse and do it but I guess alberta changed that a couple yaers back so now you have to find a commisioner.
I would love if you could send me her contact info! We also wanted to do the courthouse thing and actually considered going to another province (since we have family in MB and ON anyways) but it would just be more hassle in the end.

We were thinking of having our legal ceremony afterwards to avoid ruining the "real wedding" feeling. Figured that if mexico was the very first wedding process we did that it would feel more like the real one. Did you end up feeling that it ruined anything, or was it just like filling out any other paperwork beforehand?

I personally don't think it ruined it at all. It just felt like signing paper at work or something, it didnt feel like a wedding. Ok, thats not entirely true, I did cry at our legal ceremony so it felt weird at the time. But as soon as it was done it was like it never happened. And then the day of the wedding it seriously felt like our wedding, just with all our friends and family there and being all dressed up and the atmosphere. I totally dont think it took it away but its a personal choice for sure. I'll pm you right now!

Did you also have to exchange rings for the legal ceremony as well? We've been playing with FI's ring at home for a while trying to decide if it's going to be the right size so I don't know if it would be the biggest deal BUT I do go mushy when he has it on so I might cry too! LOL!

And I got your message so thank you!!!

Does this lady work for a company? What were her prices like. Your shots are HOT!!! Your Fi is going to be pumped! When is you flight to leave for ROR. We leave Jan.29th @ 9:25 am with Air Transat...we should get a drink down there since we'll be there the same time!

KRIS

Her prices were reasonable. I picked her because she gave you a cd of the images after the shoot, and I wanted to have them to do what I wanted with. She also offers to do a book for you, but it was out of my budget...too bad cause it looked great, better than the one I whipped together! She will come to your house or do it in hers. (I went to hers) I was suprised how young she was, and it felt a little awkward (but thats just me) but the shots turned out amazing! PM me with questions if you like! We should get a drink, I just noticed your date! We are leaving here with Air Canada on the 28.

NADINE!

You look so great! Welcome home!

In mexico you have to get blood tests done in order to have a legal ceremony and it costs money and takes time so we didnt want to have to deal with that. Also, if you have a legal ceremony in mexico it has to be in spanish with a translator, and we wanted to write our own ceremony and have it in english. personal preferance i guess!

OH no I thought we could just go to the courthouse! Once again this website prevents another catastrophy!

Nadine would you mind PMing me with the details of your commisioner?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
