Calgary Brides!

I have been crazy busy!

Future in-laws came in from Newfie-land yesterday, and work has been nuts! My boss was laid off last month, then they let go another one of my co-workers while I was on my extended long weekend (finally got around to drinking our bottle of engagement champagne in Banff wink.gif ). She did have it coming for a loooooong time, but now I am covering her job too. Unfortunately this has meant less BDW time for me!

Sounds like there are a few busy busy Calgary brides! It's always encouraging to see and find out how many people actually do go back to school and take risks. Very scary sometimes, but I'm sure well worth it in the end. Kudos to all of you!

Good morning ladies!!!

Just wanted to say hello, and see if everyone's done their Christmas shopping :P It's almost here!!!! I finally got mine done on Monday night. But now I'm scrambling to make my "Make it gift", it's a tradition that my family does every year, where we draw names and you have to make a gift for that person. It's very fun, but also stressful. lol I haven't really had a chance to just sit back and enjoy the fact that it's Christmas, it came up so fast!!!!

Hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas & New Years!

Cara

ChristinaP my friend just got married at the Grand Palladium Mayan, so if you have any questions i might be able to answer, from a "guest" perspective! and if you need a photog, i know the BEST!! my friends moved to Playa to be photogs and are amazing, i only wished they could fly to Jamaica to shoot my wedding sad.gif

Hilarious that Sherry and Nadine work together! Nadine, you leave tomorrow!!!!!!! i wonder if you'll be on here today! so exciting!! Great timing, as it's -19 at this moment! burrrr!

Ok maybe now I'M the creepy one! i just come onto this thread and know everyone's story already!! hahaha

So i read all 13 pages but i didn't see much talk on Alterations. Where did you guys get your alterations done? I'm not sure if i should take mine to Blissful Bridal, where i got my dream dress, or if i should go elsewhere? Suggestionshuh.gif

Whew! I've been very busy over this last month so I've done more lurking than posting!

Long story short - a month ago we were renting a suite, landlord told us he was selling, we started looking, we moved into our very first house last Friday! It's been a complete whirlwind dealing with banks and moving and now with Christmas two days away...man, I wish I kept a stash of Bailey's in my desk! I'm very much looking forward to the next 5 days off to unwind and get back to the wedding planning!

WOW KRama you have been crazy busy! Baileys always helps wink.gif

I got my dress back from alterations yesterday and it looks AMAZING! I would 110% reccommend Lillianan's knitwear in Kensington, she is awesome and the nicest lady you will ever meet!

Cara , ya I just finished my xmas shopping today..haha I feel like it came sooo fast this year....planning weddings kinda takes over your life and everything else just passes by. Only 42 more days!!!!!

Nadine, I hope you have the time of your life!!! Congratulations, cant wait to hear about it when you get back!

Also does anyone on here know where I can get the single use gatorade powder packs?? I swear I have looked everywhere and can't find them. I found them online and ordered them only to find out 2 weeks later that they wont ship to canada even though they said they would sad.gif

Kris - where was it that you ordered from?? I know one american website that has them and ships to canada for sure but you can get hit with duty taxes which really sucks. The site is www.northernsafety.com in case you want to check them out.

Otherwise I've heard others mention that you can find them at costco sometimes, but I don't know if that's just seasonal. Or what about some of the outdoor stores such as Mountain Equipment Co-op?? I think I've seen them there before as well.

Hey Kerri,

Who are your friends who are photogs down there? We have our photog. booked already that are from Canada, and used to live in Calgary. Wonder if they are the same people?
Thanks for the offer on the resort info. too. I have been there before, but I will be sure to keep you in mind for guest specific questions as they come up. How did you find it in general? Anything that pops in your head for suggestions/likes/dislikes would be appreciated!

To everyone else...Happy New Year! Not much action on here lately over the holidays, but there seems to be a few weddings coming up in the next few months, so I sense some venting is in order!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
