Are there any other Calgary brides with their weddings coming up? This thread has been a bit dead. Anyway, I found this and thought I'd share. There's an even called the bridal swap next weekend where you can buy all kinds of used wedding items. This is the facebook page and the website:

I left all my stuff in Mexico or I would have went and gave it all a way for free!!  Hopefully the resort recycles it :) I am sure they will as certain things they asked if they could keep ha!  I really didn't want to lug it all back with me.

I'm bringing stuff back because I'll use some of it for my reception in Argentina but after that I'll probably leave a lot in Argentina. My aunt has a store where she sells all kinds of home decor so I'm sure she can find a use for this stuff :)

I wouldn't leave anything at the resort we're going. Judging by their prices they'll try to make hundreds on stuff I left for free. No way haha.

I totally understand reusing it for Argentina, it gets expensive!!!

HAHAHA you make a valid point. I know my resort doesn't offer a lot of that extra stuff, so I think what is left over is what brides can use who don't bring their own/forget something.   I literally left all my candles, vases, signs, frames, flower girl pail, etc.   I brought home my chest, cake topper, and ring bearer shell.    Then my favors that were left over and gave them to my friends back home :)

What are you guys thinking for a honeymoon?   We are going to Vegas a couple days after your wedding.    We are really trying hard to decide what to do for our 1 year -- I was thinking Jamaica (I am an AI girl lol) but Shawn is really wanting to do Vietnam. He has been but has lots more to see there.  We will see what happens!

Yeah exactly. If I knew that they weren't going to charge ridiculous prices I would leave stuff over there.

I don't know what we're doing for honeymoon yet. We're going to Argentina next year for 2-3 weeks so if we go anywhere in the next year it will also be a short trip probably somewhere in the states. theres so many places we want to go that we actually said that we should take the time off work and then book something last minute wherever we get a good deal hahah. Go wherever destiny takes you I guess haha. I just think that would be a lot of fun.

I think Vegas would be super nice! I'm going now in June but have never been so I kind of want to see if it's up there with my expectations haha. It's definitely a different trip with friends than with your husband of course. I'm all about AIs but I also enjoy going to places where you have to go around and see different things. I would probably choose Vietnam because it is exotic and it will be a trip that you guys will never forget! :)

Oh i didn't realize that Argentina isn't until next year -- it is nice though that things are spaced out because gives you something to look forward too!!   and well, money! haha!

I am way to much of a planner to book last minute but I know some people who get SMOKING deals, maybe I have to try to let go :)

This will be my 6th time to Vegas. I LOVE it there and truth be told, it was my #1 destination for our wedding.  You will have a wicked time!!!  Do you know where you are staying yet?   When we booked we thought we would be getting a house so needed to save ++ money -- so we booked something cheaper which ended up being the Flamingo. I have been there and liked it, so i am not concerned but otherwise I may have done something like the Wynn hahaha!!!!

Shawn is worried Vietnam is too much out of my comfort zone but if we don't stay at hostels I think I will be ok!  and I said I don't want to squat above a hole in the wrong to use the facilities LOL!!!!  Cuba with no toilet seats was hard enough!

we're leaving on December 26, so technically it is this year haha, but since we're taking about 3 weeks to go they probably won't give us any more vacation at work. So other than a couple of days here or there we won't do anything crazy.

I'm totally a planner and I love to plan the whole itinerary, etc. but once in a while I like to wing it hahah. We just thought it would be super exciting to do that :)

I don't even know what hotel we're going to because I didn't plan this trip. One of my friends' parents has a time share there so we paid $140 each for the whole week and from what they told me it's a very nice hotel, so that's all I need to know :). There's 8 of us :D I'm so stocked! I had looked at the flamenco once when we were planning to go with Juan for a few days :)

If you go to Vietnam, is there any way you can rent an apartment or anything like that? It might be totally different there, but when my mom went to Europe with her friend, they rented an apartment in Amsterdam and in Paris and then just kind of traveled around. It's still cheaper than a hotel, but not quite a hostel :). Bathrooms overseas can be very strange and kind of awkward haha. I've only seen the holes once. When I was a kid we used to go to this huge park that had a public swimming pool and the washrooms were basically these holes with two things on the side for you to step on haha. It was scary when I was little but now that I think about it, I guess it's better than "sitting" on public toilet seats, or I should say, hovering over public toilet seats hahah. For me the deal breaker is usually the shared showers ahaha.

Is it on the Strip? May be the MGM Signature Suites as I know you can get timeshares there. Heck, you can probably get them anywhere! have fun!

HAHA in Cuba our resort had toilet seats but off the resort it was a large hit and miss.  My first experience was in a pub in Varadero. There was only one washroom to boot and I was like 'ewwww'  So as I tried to hover over it and not get pee on myself I touched the back of my thigh to the toilet. I was so disgusted that I honestly rubbed the back of my leg with hand sani.  I thank my girlfriend for advising me to bring a little kit of sani, kleenex and wet wipes everywhere I went. Made it much easier!

You are right - not sure what is worse trying to hover and not touch or just squitting with something built for it.  EWWW none the less.

I actually asked our tour guide in Varadero why no toilet seats - he said because toilet seats are covered in germs. HAHAH but the edge of the bowl isn't? come on!

lol that's the silliest explanation about no toilet seats I ever heard :P. I have a few gross experience stories from my travels as well. The ones where no matter how much you wash your hands or whatever it is you still feel disgusting haha.

I guess we'll see where we end up for Vegas! I know that it is on the strip but not sure where. As long as it's not a hotel with no toilet seat covers, we're good ;)

Another deal alert for those that are leaving pretty soon (or you just like to plan ahead?). I was at CrossIron mills the other day and there's a store that sells luggage that's having a sale, they have their suitcases for 25% off and samsonite luggage at buy one get one 50% off. They had some nice hard case ones of all sizes and colours.

I can't remember what the store is called, but it's beside the food court. If you're at the second cup (or starbucks? in that corner, around the corner from the washrooms) keep going, pass the food court and it's in that next series of stores. I hope that's clear :(. I don't know if there are many luggage stores in there anyway so you should be able to find it, even if my directions suck haha.

Hehe it's a second cup. I believe it's either beside Claire's or EB Games. :) I bought my gym bag in there. Some good items and decent prices. I go to cross iron way way to frequently. We just live to close :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
