Hi Everyone, I'm getting married in Montego Bay, Jamaica on Nov. 13.  Using an amazing local photographer (www.cineart.ca).  She spends most of her winters around the Caribbean so I was able to book her at her normal prices and she waived any travel fees.  Shopped around Calgary for months, only to buy a dress in Redcliff, AB.  embarrest.gif

My travel company WAS Transat Vacations as of 2 days ago, but they just royally screwed us over.  Half my wedding is departing from Calgary, the other half from Toronto on Sat-Sat which worked perfectly with our Wednesday wedding.  Well Transat just decided to change the Calgary package to Thurs-Thurs.  This is after we had our deposit paid, invites all sent out, people starting to book, etc.

We were told to book early because things were starting to book up then suddenly they change the dates and tell us that's what happens when you book so early. Our TA suggested 1) change the wedding date 2) fly everyone to Toronto (which would add $800 per person onto the TO package price for flight + overnight hotel) 3) Go with WestJet or AirCanada ($400 more per person and non-existent package, respectively). But we don't even have enough people travelling out of Calgary to qualify for their group rate (10 rooms min. where Transat was only 5)  URRRG

SO FRUSTRATING!! We are at a loss as of what to do, other than tell everyone to just figure out their own thing and they don't have to pay way more than we told them in the invites. But how horrible is that?!

Nice to meet you all, and thanks for listening to my rant! :)

From what I understand, this is pretty common. Our TA told us right up front that our dates could change by a couple of days and to be prepared for that, since the actual flight schedules don't usually come out until a few months (maybe 6??) before. Its just too bad that your TA didn't warn you about this in the first place! But, I know its super frustrating to have to scramble to move things around. Hopefully your guests will be ok with leaving on the Thurs or you can move your wedding date by a day or so... Good luck with everything! :)

Anyone planning on doing a boudoir shoot? If so any recommendations that wouldnt cost an arm and a leg?

www.redbloomphotography.com  Monica is great! She works out in airdrie...but does beautiful work!  I did a shoot with Tait and hated my photos.  I loved just about every single shot Monica took!  Ended up ordering a 30 page book from the night before the wedding gift!

Had anyone had their dress taken out? I may need an inch on each side or a panel added to my corset back :(..or lose the weight. haha. So do you all recommended giving it a shot at losing the weight first before altering? Or how long should I wait before I go get an estimate for the alterations?

Hi Ladies,

I have had eyelash extensions on and off for the past few years. I have decided to go with individual lash extensions for the wedding.

Any advise on the best place in Calgary to go? I usually get the clusters or semi's so I am wondering who is the best for individuals.

Advise and suggestions welcome!

Noir does look to be the better deal. Fortune Nails costs the same - $75. Also at Noir, refills are only $35, plus they remove your extensions for no fee, meaning if you want to stop wearing them, they will take it out at no charge. Good to know! What a useful thread..

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
