Totally not sure if this is the place to ask but I wanted to see if any other Calgary brides know of any places to buy buri fans for a decent price?  I'm trying to avoid ordering online if I can and thought I would check with everyone here if they knew of a place!

TIA

We're booked at the Gran Bahia Principe Tulum
My parents have stayed there about 8 times now...i went in 2010...great resort. Wasn't my 1st pick...originally I was going for Dreams Riviera Cancun...but when

we got the price..we couldn't turn it down. I feel much better about asking my guests to pay $1200 for a resort i KNOW they'll like ...rather than pay $1700 on a resort none of us have been to..and it being a big gamble for everything - not just the wedding.

Tulum is great..even though its a long drive from Cancun..once you're out there its all good. Plus its still only about 20-30 min from Playa Del Carmen so its just a quick trip if you still want to head in for some shopping.
Xcaret..and XelHa are nearby too.

I JUST ordered my buri fans from www.beau-coup.com yesterday. The medium ones are $1.75 each. They're also having 15% off if you spend over $99.

Just starting to plan our wedding in Puerto Vallarta for January 2012. It's coming up really fast! Just wondering if anyone knows a place to get wedding dresses "rush" ordered or something from Calgary. Usually they say six months but that's going to be too long for alterations and such!

It actually has nothing to do with the shop you buy from, and everything to do with what designer you purchase from. Two dresses from the same store ordered at the same time from different designers could arrive months apart. I ordered mine from Cameo & Cufflinks, and it took about 7 months. Star, I'm surprised S2 said 4-6. My second choice dress (Lazaro) was going to take around 8 months to get in. Ginny, you'll have to ask whatever store you purchase from if your designer does rush orders. It's usually around $500 dollars extra (pretty steep). Cameo & cufflinks is having their floor model sale right now, and there are dresses that literally just came in and have only been tried on once or twice that are on sale from 30-50% off (I was just there for my fitting on Thursday).

Also, if anyone needs a bustier, I got one from C&C that was originally $90 for 70% off (came to $26!!!!). Unbelievable. I was going to buy one from Knickers and Lace for $200!

We are also working with Amy at Romantic Planet, but our experience hasn't been nearly as positive as yours. Our frustration with Amy almost caused us to cancel our destination wedding. I don't know if we are just really complicated in our situation, but the original deal she quoted us fell through after she charged the deposit (apparently the company that provided the quote didn't check to see if there were any rooms avaialble before they gave us a rate), and then she told us it was non-refundable, so we ended up booking some of our guests with her anyway just to not lose our $500, but she doesn't provide them with any confirmation of anything, doesn't even let them know she got their info, and she certainly hasn't saved them any money (our guests who used book-it.com got a MUCH better deal with way less hassle).

Most group booking quotes I was getting were up and around $1700+ tax pp - which is absolutely ridiculous.
Ive been to Mexico 6 times now and i've never paid that much. But she worked her magic somehow and got us $1200 pp - plus the free upgrade
We were able to get 30 people booked - 20 months in advance! Never expected that. We of course made it clear to our guests that there was no pressure to book with the group. But its nice having the peace of mind that we'll all be together on the same flight...and our rooms should be roughly in the same vicinity too!
Plus - if anything nasty were to happen..like hurricane..or explosion..and we need to change resorts..we're all included in that..whereas those who aren't in the group booking aren't.
Its a gamble for sure. I'm almost positive there will be prices cheaper than $1200 - but some aren't willing to wait last minute to book. At least this way - its secured..and the best part is - we still get 1 price drop from now until we leave. So if the price does drop - we can get some money back for people!

Oh Wow - I'm so sorry to hear about that. From what I've dealt with so far - she's been pretty good. Hopefully it stays that way - lol

Sweet, the Grand Bahia Tulum is on my short list! And that price is stellar!

I'm meeting Brenda Palmer from Romantic Planet tomorrow evening!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!

I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
