Natalie - I had a great time too! It's amazing how much wedding stuff there is to talk about, lol. Great about all your progress, I know it feels sooo good to get things checked off my wedding to-do list! I'm already looking forward to next month - hope more girls come out! They don't know what they're missing! :)

Boo - sorry I have no suggestions, I don't know a whole lot about candles and tea lights. But we were thinking about doing some tea lights in these holders that have lids (kind lantern-looking). Not quite sure what we'll end up with, so definitely let us know what ends up working out for you!

Ladies - I am getting married May 4th. Have any of you heard of 'May the Fourth be with you'??? Apparently this is THE day for Star Wars fans to get married!?! I had NO idea, but apparently this is the case and now I'm wishing we'd chosen the day before, lol. Would you even care? I'm sure it won't be a big deal, it's just that will be our anniversary forever...oh well. Maybe this will be something we'll always laugh about...

Sorry I couldn't make it Thursday. Maybe next month.

Just thought I would let everyone know of my great find. I'm getting married in Maui and our AHR is going to be more of a party than a formal reception. So we are going to have a Hawaiian BBQ theme to it. Anyways I found these great paper lanters at Dollar Giant on Heritage and MacLeod. They are battery operated and light up. Only $1.25 each. They are a lot cheaper than anything I have seen online. They have a flat plastic base so I am going to have them as my center pieces.

Sandy - OMG I am laughing so hard...that is the most amazing thing I have ever heard.  Don't worry, I think it is such a funny story to tell, and no one will ever know about it, unless they are Star Wars fans.  Go with it!  Maybe even do something silly during the wedding to laugh about with everyone.  Something subtle, like maybe come out with light sabers or something and do some pics with guests...HAHA

In all honesty though, I think you are fine.  I would totally get married on that day if I had booked it already, even if I hadn't booked it but that was the only day they had I would still get married on it.

Amanda - thank for that tip...what colours do they have?  Can these ones be hung?  Are there lots of sizes?

Natalie - The lanterns are 8 inches high and do have hooks on them so you can hang them. They all have flower prints on them but there were two different light blue ones, pink, and yellow. I tried posting a pick but for some reason my computer isn't down loading it. I'll try again later.

Thanks for the update Amanda...this helps a lot.  What a great find!!!

I am heading to CrossIron Mills today, in hopes of finding some summer clothes on sale for the trip.

Sandy - How much did Pastor York quote you for the wedding ceremony?  Do you have to pay for him to come onto your hotel grounds? My hotel contracts him out, so I  have to book through them, and they just said it is $450 to have him.  Just want to make sure I am not being ripped off. If I remember correctly he is $300 or $350 for you?

Lol, okay okay I guess we'll keep our Star Wars date!

Natalie - I double-checked and my wedding coordinator confirmed $300usd for Pastor York. I'm not sure if that includes the hotel pass or not, I'll have to find out. Regardless, our half-day passes are $55, and full-day passes are $89. So $450 does seem high, unless that includes your day pass and your hotel charges $150 for a day pass?

Has anyone here used a BDW TA? I'm getting really frustrated waiting for my TA and doing all the research for her. I contacted the BDW TAs this morning...just wondering if anyone from Calgary had used them?

I'm using a TA through flightcentre and I've been getting frustrated too. It seems like she has never planned a DW before and i've learned more on this forum than from her! But we've already put our deposit down so I guess it's too late to change :( hopefully it works out in the end. Good luck with your TA hunt Sandy!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
