YAY legal marriage day tomorrow!! Where are you having your ceremony? Any plans for dinner or drinks afterward?

I have to admit that I kind of felt disappointed after our legal ceremony because I thought it might make me "feel" married, which it didn't, but I can happily say that after our REAL wedding in Mexico I definitely do have more of the "married" feeling. I figure since the mexico one is what we'll be celebrating for our anniversary anyways that it just fits together better!

Happy Legal Day Kayley!

Wish I'd have known you girls live in coventry. Woulda made a surprise visit early this morning. I landed at the airport at 1 am and was scared stiff to drive home to cochrane. Made it okay onto Stoney (and by ok I mean, I was sliding across 3 lanes but it was 'ok' because no one was on the road at that time of night) My next hurdle was making it onto the 1A. Sounds ridiculous but I was talking to myself the entire. I was "OK Alyssa, if you make it to the next lights you're good...." Ended up pulling over at around 230 to have a breather and then I got STUCK! At about 3am, some nice guy stopped and drove me home to Cochrane. If you see a little VW golf on the side of the hiway, say hi to it for me! hehe

Yikes Alyssa! I'd be terrified! Glad you made it safe and sound!

We're surprising our bestfriends (who are married themselves) with our legal ceremony. We told them to we wanted to take them out for dinner for all the stuff they've done for us (like planning the stag/stagette) and plus, we have gift cards! Our JP is meeting us at our place as well so when our friends get there we're just going to say "oh yeah, we just have to take care of a little something first". We'll have our little ceremony right there in our living room, then go for dinner and drinks. Should be fun!

What a great idea! I might copy actually. My best friend and her husband aren't able to come to the DW. She's having her second and is due mid-Sept. and she is actually really upset about it. She's been looking into flights to come down for 2 days on her own but I think it's crazy. She isn't going to want to leave a brand new baby. Maybe she'll feel better about it if she's there for the legal ceremony. Awesome idea Kayley Let us know how it turns out... :)

Hi Kayley

Congrats on the legal ceremony, please do let us know how it goes. We are still undecided on how we are going to do ours. I already know that some people will not be able to make it to cuba so it would be nice to include them in some way. But we still want to keep it a secret. Who are you getting to do your ceremony?

Enjoy your day!!

Thanks for the well wishes ladies!

FI is actually being really cute about it. He called me this morning at work and asked if he should pick up some flowers and champagne for tonight. I said, "sure, are you excited?" and just said, "no" flat out. hahaha Liar.

We're having a friend of our family officiate for us. She grew up with my dad's family and she did my grandpa's memorial service 10 years ago. She was super excited when I called her and she said she's done several "pre-wedding ceremonies" before. She said she has a great script that's informal but still sentimental so it's not just government legal speech.

Her name is Jacqueline Hoare, here's her website:

I'll let you know how it goes!

soooooo... I was just talking with a couple other brides getting married at the same resort as me and apparently the Paradisus was bought out by someone else! Her TA told her about it and of course my TA isn't back in the office until Monday. I tried calling the resort formerly known as "Paradisus Riviera Cancun" and basically they told me nothing. "You should be contacted shortly by the new operators" They wouldn't even tell me who the new operators are! That's helpful.. stupid help line! grrrrr.

Just got home from Michaels' and wanted to let you all know that they are having a sale on wedding items - alot of items are 25% off and then you can use your coupon for 40 or 50% off as well.

I bought my 50 invitations, two boxes of fans (36), four rolls of ribbon and some bride and MOH iron ons - and it only cost me $86.00 in total. It would have cost me over $120.00.

Just thought I would let you ladies know.

Myana lily - I hope you and the other ladies all the best with the new mngmt of the Paradisus resort - Im sure its just a change of hands - usually when that happens - most times things are even better then they were before. Don't worry too much - Im sure your TA's will be working to find out all the information for you.

good luck!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
