I called the Bridal Centre, they didnt pick up, I left a message earlier today and still yet to hear back, off on a wrong foot with that one I guess

I had to get bridesmaid dresses for another wedding from Blissful Bridal before, but any other suggestions of a must hit store? I am actually dying to go to Kleinfelds and was thinking of doing it in June anyway but maybe I am cutting the whole November wedding too close, cause if I get it in June to get it by end of October is 4.5ish months
If you are going to start at The Parisian, I would try making a back to back appt. at Cameo & Cufflinks as well. They are in the same building (owned by the same people) in Dalhousie station.
Let me know if you end up wanting a certail Pronovias dress too from the Parisian...mine is sitting there waiting for me to pick it up, and I need to figure out what I am going to do with it!!!
Good luck shopping Boo.

I bought my dress at Mena's and really liked the girl who was working there! I feel bad that I totally can't remember her name but she was super nice and very helpful.

The other store I would recommend is Beautiful Bride (close to Blissful I think?!). It's in teh same plaza as the Spence Diamond store immediately south of Glenmore Tr. on Macleod. It's a little tricky getting into the parking lot when you're coming from the north just to warn you! LOL! Took me a few tries to be honest :)

And if the Bridal Centre is the one down by Ikea, it doesn't surprise me in the least that you haven't been in touch with them. Well, I should first say that I think making an appointment with them online was what worked for me pretty quickly, but I had a horrible experience when I was there and ended up at home in tears thinking I would never find a dress. On the other hand I've heard some okay stories about it too. I think it all depends on what kind of shopper you are. I want to be able to wander through and see the kind of selection a store has, or to be able to point out certain features to whomever is helping me. This place is a little like watching Kleinfeld's on tv, where you have your place to stand but they bring everything to you and you can't really wander about to check things out. I don't particularly need someone catering to me hand and foot, as long as they are around to help when I need it. Sorry for the mini rant there but I could never set foot in that place again.

My other recommendations - eat first, take water, make sure you have a hair elastic/clip (it gets hot changing repeatedly!) and take people who know your personal style and recognize that it is different from their own.

Have fun shopping!

Thanks ladies!!!!

Echo- my mom actually bought a pair for everyone in our wedding party a couple months before the wedding and handed them out there. I thought it was a super cute Idea and they have our wedding date year on them lol. We got a whole bunch of pictures done with them on but that's the only one I got back from my photographer so far :)

If you make a trip to Edmonton I loooooved Pure Bridal. I hated the bridal centre just because like the other girls said you just have to sit there and wait for them to bring you dresses and I felt like I was being pushed out quickly. Good luck shopping :)

Funny that you say you felt like you were being pushed out quickly... when I had my appointment it was for 4:30 or 5pm on a Saturday (which means they close at 6pm) and when the girl brought out a dress she said "oh by the way we're closing now so this is your last one" and it was a little blunt... not even a 10-minute warning or something. So once I'd changed back into my clothes my girlfriend and I headed back downstairs and they already had ALL the store lights turned off and the other staff didn't even say good night or thanks or anything as they watched me leave. To top it all off, we got back in the car and found out it was actually 5:53pm. We checked the car and our cell phones to see if we were mistaken, but NOPE. So I realize that those extra 7 minutes were going to do me any good, but to be as rude as they were about getting us out and the lights off etc... I was really ticked! Plus, the woman helping me hadn't brought a single dress for me that I'd even have considered buying. It was a bad day for me sad.gif

Boo,
Betty at Ethos is sooo great! I bought my wedding dress from her back in 1999 and I just bought my 2nd wedding dress with her this past october. You will love her! She is sooo sweet and is just like another mom, but in a good way! Good luck!

Uh I'm with the complaints on The Bridal Centre....but I can tell you the service I would have gotten if I'd purchased a "Couture" priced gown (the Bride next to me was drowning in customer service, and not looking at any gowns under $6000....don't think they liked my self-inflicted budget, and based on the customer service I received they won't get a dime out of me!! lol I'm big on service, and even if I had loved a dress, Meghan; same thing as you they didn't even bring what I asked for, I would have never purchased out of pure spite, I'm bad that way!!

On a totally unrelated Bridal topic, but a total Calgarian Topic:

Does anyone know where to buy some beef...like not a half a cow, but maybe a 1/4 or 1/8 for a good price?? already boxed/wrapped different cuts and frozen even........

BTW, Kris, love the Olympic mitts!! not sure if I mentioned it to you before! A gf of ours just had her maternity pics done with the mitts, such a good idea!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
