Wow I've missed a lot on this forum... I haven't been on for the past 3 weeks. My dad just recently passed away... and obviously planning is the last thing on my mind right now. But unfortunately the wedding is so close, that I don't really have a choice, I have to plan.....

It's so unfair... My dad was SO excited for the wedding. He'd talk about it every day, and things were going so good and now this... I don't even want to think of the wedding anymore. I told my FI after my dad passed that I wanted to postpone the wedding, but obviously that is pretty hard with a DW.. hopefully in 3 months I will be a little more ready. I still have so much to do... Luckily my MOH is being very helpful, and doing anything for me that she can so I don't have to think about the wedding right now. it just makes me depressed.

I need some motivation to start planning again......

oh Cara I'm so sorry to hear about your dad!! Speaking as a daddy's girl myself, I know that I'd be just as devastated as you are and wouldn't feel like planning anything either!! It sounds like you've got lots of support around you though and I'm sure that makes a world of difference for you.

All I can say is to take on one task at a time so that you don't get overwhlemed, and maybe just carrying on as your way of honouring your dad. He'd have wanted you to be excited for your wedding day. Maybe knowing that each bit of planning you finish will make your wedding that much more special for you and those sharing your day with you will be enough to keep you going. No one would ever expect that you'd just bounce out of a situation like this so remember to take a moment for yourself now and then, and in between rely on those around you to help you through.

If there's anything I can do to help you out just speak up! There's lots of us around town here that I'm sure would help get the creative juices flowing again for you.

Thank you so much Echo. That's good advice, I will have to do that because I just keep thinking of all the things I have to do, and don't really even know where to start at this point. So if I take one thing at a time and get it done before I move onto the next task, that might work better for me right now. And I still have 3 months so I can take my time for most things.

So first task I guess.... anyone know where I can find some good canvas tote bags around town? I need to get some for my OOT bags, I have some of the contents that I got a while ago, but no bags yet. I found some online at cheaptotes.com but the shipping is $35, and I figured if I could find some here that would save me a bit of money.

So so sorry to hear about your father Cara, it's a very hard thing to deal with, especially at this time that's supposed to be fun and exciting. He will want you to enjoy your day, Echo/Meghan is right, just take things one step at a time and before you know it your special day will be here. :o)

I lost my father as well, almost 10 years ago, and even still I think about him a lot...I have a bouquet frame with a picture of him in it - I do have an extra one you are welcome to, I know you probably haven't thought about it but if you'd like to see a pic just let me know.

As far as OOT bags go there are a lot at Dollarama around town in canvas and jute in various colors I think they are all around $2 each, I had originally bought some and then changed my mind yet again!! lol So now I'm collecting some from Dollarama's around town, how many bags do you need??

Take care and use all the support around you that you need. :o)

I think one of the better Canadian sites that I'd been looking at was Elmhirst Packaging and I know they've got a reasonable selection of canvas totes with varying prices depending on how many you need. The good thing is that the minimum is low, the bad thing is that you have to order in certain increments which can be a bit of a pain in the butt.

Hey Suzy,

I had thought about doing a bouquet picture frame, I would love to see a photo of your extra one if you could send me one? That would be so great. I have seen some reviews on this forum where people had lost a parent before their wedding and used a bouquet picture frame, and i thought that was so nice. How much would you want for it? You can PM me if you'd like about that. <3 thanks so much.

And thank you to both of you for suggesting Dollarama, maybe I will check it out this weekend and see what they have. I think I need about 35.

thanks for the website too, I will check that out.

Cara

Your Mexican proposal sounds waaay more romantic than mine! We were in Cancun and I had a towel on my head in my undies when my FI proposed. "Getting engaged in the surf" is maybe what I will start to tell people...at least our children! lol!
HAHA Christina that's still cute! I must say i was completely shocked, he's not normally that romantic!

Happy planning!
It's soooo nice! i may have to go check it out!

Oh Cara, i'm soooo sorry to hear about your dad...but you know he would not want you to post pone or forget about your wedding...do it in his honor, he'd be so happy to know you are still carrying on. oohh my heart goes out to you!

I wish I had thought of those canvas bags! great idea! i just bought paper bags at walmart, cheapest place i found them. they do the trick and look not to bad! can even get them in silver and gold! which is what i did.

Cara I am so sorry to hear about your dad. That has got to be one of the toughest things to deal with right now...or ever for that matter. I agree with all the other girls though, especially if your dad was really excited about your planning etc. He will definitely want you to go on with it and he will be there watching :)

At my wedding I used a locket necklace and put a picture of my grandpa in it, nothing special, I just wrapped the chain around my bouquet, it was really beautiful. Hold in there and if you need anything just ask !!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
