Also, FYI I stopped in at Cameo and Cufflinks (Dalhousie) and they are having a huge sale. Up to 70% off Feb 3-7 If anyone is looking still for a dress or bridesmaids...

 

We could get $150 per person back from whoever books with our Signature package but we are seriously considering just starting over. I'd really like to be on the same flight as my family from Regina and also arrive and depart on the same day. Signature and AirCanada fly on different days. Not a huge deal but I really would like to be all together.

mayan, i am so sorry to hear about your crappy TA experience, and that you had to cancel your dream dress because of it.

 

i am a travel agent, so i am taking care of all of my guests and our travel arrangements. that being said, the "Group Rates" i was able to get from my supplier seem way too high for me, so i may not even being going that way, and will just wait for an expedia-esque deal and book at that point!

 

airfare is a really crazy science and it doesn't always make sense, and when i am trying to find a deal for all of my guests too, that's when things get a little dicey! i just wish that the Group Rates really were the best deals out there.

 

whether i go the Group rate or not, I will still probably be booking everyone's trips (which earns me a bit of commission from the tour operators), but i will let them decide when they want to fly and with whom. i am just waiting for the flights for jan 2011 to come out before i decide anything 100%.

Hahaha, well if it makes you feel any better about your whole mis-aligned flight issues... half my group is heading down to Mexico on sunday with Air Canada (and one on continental) and they're all from Calgary then the rest of the group will be heading down on Monday. Those traveling from Winnipeg arrive earliest, then Toronto and FINALLY my flight with a bunch of friends arrives Monday evening! LOL! So yes, basically I'm going to be the last to arrive for my own wedding, and some guests will already have been there a full day It's completely messed up but every guest has a direct flight and was able to travel on the day that suited them best. That was enough for me!

Did you use a TA Echo? I know I really shouldn't be that concerned about getting there on the same day but I can't help it LOL I'm turning into Bridezilla and there's still 9 months to go

LOL nope!!! I had NO luck with finding a good TA or one that could get me decent prices. If I'd gone through a TA we could never have afforded our resort and neither could our guests. I'm a little insane and am on the westjet sites ALL THE TIME (flying back and forth to ontario & winnipeg enough will so that to a person!) so I knew there were better prices posted there if they had a sale on. It's just the tricky times right now where they don't have any sales for my resort but about 97% of our guests are booked. I'm not personally a fan of Air Canada at all so I was happy to avoid them for my own flights which was why I ended up travelling on the Monday (westjet) instead of Sunday (A.C).

 

There's nothing wrong with wnating to be at your resort the same day (or even a day or two earlier!) than your guests. That's just what you want and it's okay... you just have to know how much you're willing to compromise and negotiate in order to get that! I mean for me, the money you'd paid on your deposit is too much to lose completely but I'm okay with different arrival dates. Now if someone told me to give up the money or I couldn't have a DW and had to do a local wedding... then I'd be saying GOODBYE to that cash because having a local wedding would be devastating to me. LOL, I hope that analogy makes just a little sense!! It does in my head

Mayanlily- I dont think it really matters sometimes when you book with a charter. They can change their flights whenever they want. We were all supposed to fly out the same day but then in the end calgary and edmonton departures arrived on thursday and then winnipeg, saskatoon, regina and toronto arrived on friday.. It actually was nice b/c the thursday ngiht was just all friends and ALOT of fun. Its something you really dont have control over though if you are using a charter. Ours changed 2 months before our wedding and we had been booked for 1.5 years.
