Mayan Palace Brides- Post Here!

Recommended Posts

Does anyone have pictures of a wedding at the Mayan that did not use an outside WC?

Priscilla suggested we pay for cover for the dance floor and extra lighting. I would like to know what the dance floor looks like with out the cover and what lighting is included with the location fee.

TIA!

Amy do you mean extra lighting for the sea, under the tables or where? I am going to have the light for the sea , but not for under the tables I wanted at the beginning but now I changed my mind LOL

For the dancefloor the regular dance floor is a plain white , do you want the one like plastic covered? or the lighted one?

I meant the regular lights that come with the Mayan AND the dance floor. I just want a plain one. But Prisar said that the one provided for by the Mayan is not pretty and we should cover it with "charol" but if the one provided by the Mayan is decent looking then i don't want to pay more to cover it up.

I missed the bump, lol.

So this is what Hans and I are doing:

Centerpieces, 2 types:

Vase w/ blue water. These will be illuminated at night similar to Christinepg's centerpeice

These will form a tree and have tiny orchids attached.

We are renting these place mats from Prisar

As for lighting and the dance floor. We plan to wait and see how many guest are actually going. If we can afford to, we will cover the dance floor as Priscilla suggests (with the white plastic) and get the lighting for the jetty and the ocean/beach. We are definitely bringing down the sunset bar beach lounge and renting some light cubes (unless it rains since we'd have to rent a bigger tent to cover up this area, boo)

I'm not sure if we are going to cover up the stage for the band. Every thing adds up! We are trying to get things we really need or our top choices of wants (b/c I want everything, lol).

How are your plans going??

I'm bumping this thread to ask another question:

Has anyone inquired about doing a slideshow at the Mayan? I know some people don't like these, but I think they are fun and really enjoy seeing them at weddings.

Verenicce, how are your plans? Your the next MP bride!! Can you share any of your planning pics/ ideas/ plans??

Edna, how is your planning coming along? Did you decide on your colors? What about the app's to go along with the mojitos?

I'm not sure if anyone else is keeping up with this thread, but I wanted to post a mini vent, ugh!

So the previous WC, Marco though in a small symbolic cake to our package considering the amount of guests we are having and that we get desert with dinner.

I have emails confirming this since he did not state this on our contract. we actually had 2 contracts/ proposals (in English and Spanish). They both had contradicting prices/ one had more info than the other. I pointed this out to him before signing the contract. Marco confirmed everything in his emails and told me not to worry.

So why is it that now Pris is telling me that we will most likely not get this cake since it was not stated on our contract! I sent her the emails from Marco where he is clearly confirming this! WTF! I don't want to purchase a whole cake but was looking forward to having a small one to cut. Now I'm quoted about $300 for a cake (which is not bad, however, when you were not planning on spending $300 for a cake, it does take a toll on the budget).

Amy,

I wouldn't worry about. Nayley the new wedding planner will work with you. We had a two-tier cake on our contract...I asked for chocolate moouse and tres leche with choc. covered strawberries and she did it. No questions asked. She is new and welling to work with you but stand your ground and show her the email Marco sent you. I had some other things that she said I couldn't do but then I showed her the emails that Marco sent and she did as I asked.

Come prepared to stand your ground with her. Email her the emails Marco sent you. I did that.

Sorry I haven't been helping so much...been really busy since our wedding...I have had two finger surgeries...be careful dancing on your wedding day or you'll end up like me.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
