LOL, Edna! Well, Pricsilla called me last week, both Hans and I were able to speak with her. She's supposed send me a proposal/sample of prices and pics, of weddings she has done/ or is doing.

So we are most likely jumping on the band wagon and hiring her! I know, I was trying very hard to avoid an outside WC, but since Marco left, the situation with my cousin, I felt I needed help and Hans agreed. Plus, I was afraid of planning the ceremony at the Church with no real contact. We still cannot book ugh!

AmyH You'll be so happy with Priscilla! It's definitely a splurge to have their help, but it's really put us at ease to know someone is advocating for us and negotiating with the different vendors.
Martin and I have really been going back and forth on this as well, Amy. I'm kind of freaking out right now because our site visit is all of a sudden nearly a month away and I haven't made ANY appointments at all!!!! :o

Amy, have you spoken yet with the new WC at the Mayan? Do you know if Marco is already gone? Aye yi yi... so much to do before the site visit but it seems so surreal since our wedding is so far away! Do you girls think this is too early to do our site visit?! I just want to make sure we get our location booked and since we're looking at a holiday weekend that's why we booked our site visit so early but now I'm kind of reconsidering...

Help please ladies! smile41.gif wink.gif

Ok I just send Priscilla an email asking to meet w/her and for them to show us around during our stay. AHHHH I can't believe this is coming up so soon! After speaking with Martin we would feel soooo much more secure hiring an outside WC who will be our eyes and ears down there. I know a lot of people do it on their own (with their hotel WC) and that it is costly, but honestly that freaks me out because I am a bit of a control freak cheesy.gif

WOW this is all seeming a lot more real now! It's just about a year and a half til our wedding day. When it was almost 2 years away it was difficult to think about. And it's always weird telling people we are getting married in May of '09 when it's '07. Now that it's almost '08 that will be so much easier to tell people we're getting married "next year". OH, and I asked my first bridesmaid to join our wedding party the other day - I'm getting so excited!!! pinkie.gif

Hmm...my thoughts...we did our site visit in February earlier this year. We were actually originally thinking of the Westin and never really checked out the Mayan. As it turns out, we didn't really plan our visit very well...the one thing we did do was meet with and decide on working with Prisar as our WC.

We were pretty easy going about the whole thing, though, and in the end the big benefit of doing our scouting trip was to get a feel for the area. See how close downtown is to the Marina, general lay of the land stuff...and decide that we at least really like PV.

So, in terms of being early, I think you're okay. Just go and see a bunch of hotels/locations, get an idea of what you like. I would also say at least have a WC take you around to places. What happenned to us is that we made an appointment with the Westin on our own, then decided to go with Priscilla. We signed our contract with Priscilla and when she tried to get prices she normally got with Westin, they told her that they had already quoted us prices and wouldn't change them. It was silly, but more the reason why we decided to work with a WC. Even if you don't decide to use a WC, you won't get bound by these silly rules.

When you get back...think through if you want a WC and if not, work with the hotel/locale of your choice and book your date as soon as you decide. Then (at least it was for us) we really didn't have much to think about until the last couple months.

I've heard through Priscilla that Marco has already left...in fact, I think she's getting in touch with the new girl (Erica?) to reconfirm details. From the way it sounds, Banquet coordinators often change (they must be in manager training or something where they get rotated around). A friend of ours got married at the Westin PV a couple years ago and they got passed around a little bit as well.

HTH and happy planning for your site visit. I'm so jealous! It's been so rainy and gross here!

Adeybaby, I am very excited to be getting a WC. I am so freaked about the little details and yes, I want them all, hehe!

I spoke with my mom and SIL and both agreed we should hire them so now I'm just waiting for her to email the proposal.

Jaime- I have not communicated with Erika at all. I've been at a stand still and not that we will most likely hire Priscilla, I figure she can f/u with Erika. Plus Priscilla did mention that Erika is not a permenant replacement. (I think I heard her correctly.) So I don't want to go through it all with Erika then have to do it again with the new person.

Thanks to you both for your feedback. We are going ahead with our site visit, assuming Priscilla emails us back and can meet with us. Woohoo! smile159.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
