do you ladies have any thoughts of mayan vs cancun or cabo?? all the mags make pretty much every hotel look nice i've been doing alot of tripadvisor.com.. and i'm not sure were pretty young but not party animals. i would say our guest list we will send out is 75 and i would say that maybe tops tops top 30 might come..

PS love BDW already.. i just wanna get on my crafty side and start making my boarding passes now wink.gif
Dreams can fit into your budget, it just depends on the destination! I don't know what your budget is, but Cabo can be expensive... though so can Mayan Riviera! My FI and I love Dreams too, but Los Cabos was out of the question for us (and our guests for the most part) so we are going to the Dominican!

Start with deciding on a place, then the hotel... after that is done, like one of the other BDW-ers said everything will fall into place! DW's are easier to plan than the at home ones from what I hear, so just relax, you will be a GREAT bride! And since you have help from all of us, you will be FABULOUS! hehe :) xo

By the way, the boarding passes are fun, thats what we did for our STD's!

nmurch,

We're pretty much in the same boat! I'm 19 and live in Canada too! Wedding date is May 2011 :)

Looking forward to joining you on this amazing venture! I'm kinda glad my wedding is so far from now... so much more time to dream and plan! cheesy.gif

I'm a Virgo, it's pretty much embedded in me :P.

The first thing I would do is figure out your budget. I know it may be hard as you're building a house but you really can't plan much without it. Then you can figure out which locations/resorts you can afford.

You still have plenty of time before your desired wedding date to figure everything out. Good luck and try not to get too overwhelmed!

I know how you feel....we were picking a place for our DW, building our home (still are), both working 12 hours a day...its so overwhelming but as the other brides have said give yourself a budget 10K, 15K whatever - the pick a place in terms of what island, state, country etc and then it will start falling in place.. GOOD LUCK!

So many Canadians! I agree - first, deep breaths, next, look at budget, then location, then resort. Compare the packages and go with your gut. Then you can worry about all the other things, but one at a time. All together its just too overwhelming! One thing at a time allows you to keep your sanity :)

  • 4 weeks later...

I was in a similar situation, engaged for over a year, didn't know where to start, changed my mind a million times, but now I'm to the fun stuff....planning! I was looking at Cabo VS Riviera Maya and decided upon Playa del Carmen in the Riviera Maya. Love the location, the beautiful Caribbean waters and the resort. Enjoy this site, there is TONS of info!!!

Oh my, breathe! It will be ok! A good start is to have a look at a wedding checklist and to start from the top. For example, theknot.com has a great one. Then you should try to focus on the big items, like the location (where do you want to get married - country and location!), hotel, etc. Once you get started, it gets a whole lot less overwhelming. You still have a lot of time ahead of you!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
