What *TIME* to have ceremony??

Recommended Posts

Ladies, I need your insight...

The Guest Services Manager at the Royal Decameron wants to know when I want to have the ceremony. I don't want FI to see me before the wedding so we're not having it at sunset now. I imagine dinner would be afterwards, but I'm not sure how it works. FMIL started me with some questions but I wanted to check with people "in the know" wink.gif

Here's what I have so far. What do you brides & brides-to-be think? Is there anything else I should ask? (we're not ready to discuss the menus yet).

  1. What time does it get dark in January in PV?
  2. How does it work for dinner? (i.e. do we eat in the dark)
  3. Do you set it up with lanterns?
  4. What time is dinner?

Thank you in advance!!! grouphug.gif

I say choose whatever time of day you want your ceremony first and then book everything else. You will have time options for dinner, etc......and i'd hope they have lanterns, lights, candles for ambience during a dinner after sunset.

Our ceremony is at 2pm because we got the last time left that day. If I had the option, I would have chose around 4pm because it isn't as hot at that time. Our dinner will be at 6pm.

Good luck!

This is the page we use when we figure sunset times in Puerto Vallarta .... generally speaking, for best pictures, you want about 30-40 minutes before the actual sunset :).

Hey...your wedding is about a week before mine! We're staying at the Decameron too!!!

We're getting married a few blocks down at a restaurant called Karen's Place and she told us that 6:00pm was the best time to have a ceremony, especially for pictures, so that's when we're having ours. Plus there may be a few less randoms on the beach wink.gif

She's providing the lights for us and I would assume the hotel would be able to accomodate this as well. The reception will likely be in a separate area.

We are having dinner at 7:30pm. However we are serving appetizers right after the ceremony and while we take our pictures.

Hope this helps!

Whoops...I see you don't want a sunset ceremony from your post. In that case are you thinking a ceremony in the afternoon?

I see you were just looking for question help,

Are you using a resort photographer? You should find out what their contract entails.

i.e. How many hours are they booked for?

So you can get ceremony pics and your sunset shots as well.

I'm leaning towards a ceremony in the afternoon. I don't want FI to see me before the ceremony so we're doing pictures afterwards. Paulina Ulloa is doing our photographs. We're using her for up to 6 hours.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
