Did you ever want to change your resort?

Recommended Posts

I am really regretting my resort choice right now.

We did Beaches Negril because of the travel coordinator's suggestion and I chose some certain things for the wedding decor and theme, but now that all weddings are martha stewart weddings from JAnuary, I am being nickeled and dimed for every single thing beacuse my color scheme is not the same as hers. Would have been better to go to RIU in my opinion :-(

Also, the resort is sold out for the days of my wedding so most guests are at sandy bay and that is getting sold out too.

Amber says she will ask her supervisor but if guests stay at another resort, I dont think that they shoud have to pay an entry fee because they could not get a room at my resorthuh.gif?

Just stressed.....

That is so irritating! I did not pick anything from the old Preston Bailey collection, so I was safe there...but I don't think it is fair that they can change it up on you with only two months to go. Did you get a listing of the upgrades that you can get now that the packages have changed? My WC (Beaches Boscobel) said that would be available in Nov.

I see your wedding is only 3 days before mine...I was wondering how busy the resort would be at that time, but obviously quite busy...

They are not so much upgrades as totally different.

The flowers and colors they had before are changed because everyone who gets married at BEaches/sandals from JAnuary has to have a martha stewart beautiful beginnings package- i.e purple or white orchids and table settings etc. or choose one of the other themes.

Any other color except those in other themed packages are extra and have to paid for 30 days before the wedding.

IS that what they told you too?

We are getting married in Puerto Vallarta. I originally wanted to get married at Dreams Villamagna but switched to Dreams Puerto Vallarta. The WC at Dreams Puerto Vallarta responded to me in a timely manner. I never heard from the WC from Villamagna for about 2 1/2 weeks. I just went with the place that I felt the most comfortable with. I felt like a ton of bricks had been taken off my shoulder once I made the decision.

We changed three times! But we did it far enough in advance where it didnt effect anyone but us. lol... We were going to stay at breezes. Then we switched to Riu, after finding the Riu through this website here!! ( I owe these boards everything!!)

We booked for Negril, Then lastly decided that we just wanted to hang in Mo bay so Im gonna be a RMB bride and we are booked and everything is final its a great feeling. I could change and change again.

The Coyaba looks great. I just dont look at anything else now that we are this far into it. We made our decision its gonna be great! And im sure yours will be too!

Good luck!!

We wanted to get married in St.Thomas at first, but after looking into some AI places there, we thought it would be way too much for our guest and us. We did some more research and found ROR instead. I'm glad we did. It fits our buget and our guest. In this economy it's all about the budget!!!

omg i cant believe i have only just seen this.i had my first bridal freak out last night.it began at 6pm last night did,nt sleep and finally got out of bed at 5.30am,dropped fi off at the ta at 9am this morning.

i won,t bore you but when we booked it was between 2 resorts and the last couple of days i have been thinking about the other resort mentioned it to the fi to find out hes been thinking the same.

the ta put our minds at rest and reminded us why we booked there in the 1st place.and now im fine.i think its just because we pay everything off in a couple of weeks and i want everything to be good.it helped because the ta has been to both resorts.

but my advise to you is obviously you booked there on your gut instinct and for many reasons so leave it be and arrange everything else lol.

Yes. We were originally booked for Rose Hall Resort and Spa (I think its Hilton owned) anyways we saw the real pictures of the hotel online and Trip Advisor and were not impressed at all esp w/ the small strip of a beach. It just wasn't very aesthetically pleasing to us at all, not what I had envisioned for my wedding pictures. And the hefty price tag for the lower tiered ceremony package which barely covered anything beyond a very bare minimal further severed the deal. And we switched to ROR.

I understand where you are coming from though because we also had to book a family friendly hotel. For the same reasons, we have a 5 month old daughter coming with us and I have a sister who is bringing her children as well. We almost booked Beaches but our TA said it wasn't in our price range and would be too steep for what we had set our budget for. But our TA told us if we were willing to pay the price it was the next best thing to Sandals for those who need a family friendly resort. I did like the daycare option though.

I think everything will be fine after all its what you make it. Just make sure that you do some adult activities and take full advantage of those daycare facilities that they have.

There have definitely been times where I have doubted my decision. I did tons of research and just about drove myself and FI crazy trying to find the "perfect" resort. I finally realized that I wasn't going to be able to find the "perfect" resort so we made a list of the things that were most important to us and then chose the resort that best fit our top requirements. This was all before I found BDW.

So then I found BDW and saw that there were so few brides booked with Beaches and I was like, wait!! Why is no one else booking with Beaches? What's wrong; did I pick the wrong resort?!?! I saw sooooo many other brides booking with RIU and thought for sure I had made a mistake. But you know what....the grass always looks greener on the other side and I think we all try so hard to make everything perfect that no matter how fantastic the resort is, somehow we will find a way to doubt the choices that we have made. All it takes is a bad review on trip advisor to send a bride into panic mode - but I think we just need to step back, take a deep breath and realize that we can't control everything. BUT despite not being able to control everything, we are all still going to have a fabulous DW :) :) :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
