I second this. Also I'm pretty particular as to what I like, but at the same time indecisive.. so i know where you're coming from.

As for amount, I'm going to try my hardest to keep it under 1,000. I'm of the notion that it's a 2 day dress (trashing also) so I can't justify spending a bundle on it. Not even going to try on more expensive dresses.

I told myself that I would spend $1k or less on my dress, but all the dresses that I kept trying on were just not doing it for me. Then I went to a Vera Wang sample sale and I found it immediately. On the rack I was not sure, but when I put it on I LOVED IT!!!!! My mom even said "This is the one!" I love my dress. That being said, I spent $3K. It was originally $10K. So in my mind I got a great deal. I still haven't posted my dress only because I don't want anyone to see it until the day of the wedding.

My experience was the same as Ann's. I never tried on my dress and knew it was the one. I tried it on about 5 times before I bought it and knew that I liked it a lot. With all that said, I've never been one who is big on fashion.

Angie ~ You're killing me!! I can't wait to see your wedding pics now....I want to see your dress!!

My dress cost a crapload. Let's keep it at that.

That being said I knew I loved it when I saw it in a magazine. I knew I loved it on me the second I put it on. I wouldn't have bought any other dress no matter what the price difference was because I love my dress so much. And I loved it as is - no major alterations needed.

i didnt buy the dress i really wanted. and i wish i had. it was about $2000. i had one made instead. it was a knock off of my second choice. i didnt have my first choice made because i thought it would be too hard to do. i do like the dress i ended up with. but wish i would have just bought the one i wanted. my dress ended up being about $500.

My dress is $798, I fell in love with a dress that was $1500 and just didn't want to spend that much for something I'd wear once. So I ended up looking on the designers site and finding the $1500 dress with a slight change, making it a different dress and half the price! So I'm very happy I found it because its almost exactly the same and I love it.

Also, let me tell you from past experience that I got very frustrated with the whole dress thing, not wanting to spend a lot, and just wanting to buy something. So I bought a dress on ebay, a sample from a bridal salon for $225. It is an absolutely gorgeous dress, fits perfect, but it wasn't the dress from the store that I kept thinking about.

I don't know if I knew right away that it was the one, I knew I really liked it, but I am also so indecisive about everything. When I couldn't stop thinking about it, I knew I had to buy it.

So, the moral of the story is don't become a two dress bride, lol! I'm going to sell the one I bought originally to make some of my money back.

If you have to modify this dress that much, I would keep looking, you'll probably find something else that will be perfect.

My dress was $1000.00 and I paid just over $200.00 in alterations. I fell in love with a dress that cost 4k but I refused to try it on because I knew I would love it and want it. The first time I tried my dress on I was like "oh it's so pretty" and the more I thought about it the more I loved it. So I went back tried it on again and yeap it was the one... A few months later I started having second thoughts but after it came in and was altered it was exactly what I wanted.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
