I bet if you email this person and ask if they have this dress in a 4 or 6, they will. Pay attention to the measurements, though, and if you're on the cusp, go down a size.

I appologize in advance if this ends up being long-winded!

I had the same situation as Sarah did actually!! Around the end of March Sarah mentioned to me that the thrift store she bought her dress at had some dresses in the window. I almost did not go in to look but decided I had nothing to lose but a bit of my time. The dresses there had just been donated by a local bridal shop and were brand new with tags still attached for $99.

While there, this young girl started small talk with me and informed me that the last tuesday of the month everything is 1/2 off. I then realized it was tuesday and the last tuesday of the month so the dresses would now only be $50. I found one that I really liked at the time. It was satin and has crinlin underneath, making it rather full. I am not sure who the designer is but the original price was $899. I tried it on and it looked nice, despite the fact that it was 2 sizes too big. I called my mom and texted her pics with my camera phone and decided to just buy it, if I changed my mind I would donate it back for my $50. While at the register, the lady behind me was commenting on how beautiful it was. I mentioned that it was half off and now only $50 today. Well, apparently the woman at the counter overheard and misunderstood me. She rang me up and then announced my amount owed, $26.50!!! I was shocked! She somehow thought that it was 1/2 off of the "$50" I mentioned to the woman behind me in line.

Fast forward to the beginning of July-

I got thinking about the dress and started questioning if it was "the one" for me. I felt that although it is really pretty it wasn't what I dreamed about and asked Aaron if he minded if I looked some more before I paid to get the 1st dress altered, and of course he did not care. I went to a local bridal shop, which is actually the shop that donated my 1st dress to the thrift shop! I love my new dress, which is posted in the wedding dress thread! I do not think I will even use the 1st dress, I will most likely just donate it back to the thrift store!!

I was a 3-dress bride, first one, I orderd on ebay and once delivered looked terrible on me so sold it within a week, then I saw this beautiful dress no longer available in any store (a chiffon dress that almost looked linen like) so I searched and searched all over, including the stores that had previously carried the line and no luck..I gave up after few months of looking EVERYWHERE, so then ordered my second destination looking dress from Netbride, its a Mon Cherie dress that is beautiful, but once it arrived, it did not suit me as I had hoped....

I still had the previous dress on my mind..so I secretly kept looking for it, well after searching and searching, I contacted the designer directly and for fun, asked them if they could re-make the dress for me in my size..To my surprise, they made the dress in my measurements and 9 weeks later, it was sent to me..

So I still do have my Mon Cherie dress I will post for sale, and in the end, I am using the third dress for destination wedding..

A word of advice, try to get out and try the dress on first before ordering it from Ebay or somewhere else, its funny what we like, may look terrible on us and we may just be surprised at other dresses we aren't necessarily attracted to, could be the one

Sorry for the long winded story~

  • 9 months later...

This has been the best thread I have ever read... sorry but I laughed out loud... mainly because I can relate. I am sure I will be up there too bc I have a dress from a previous engagement... right dress, wrong guy taking up space in my closet. If anyone wants a plain A line wedding dress in a 10 let me know! And then having a conversation with the FI he said I can get any dress I want as long as it's not that one... so yeah. Working on finding the dream dress, but once I find it there is no way I'll trash it... and then a AHR dress... I can see how it adds up!!!!smile123.gif

You can use it for TTD!!!!!!! For $26.50 you will have the hottest pictures rolling around in the sand because you won't care how much the dress cost! Jealous!!!

LOL I was rushed into thinking that I had to buy one in the states while I was there for just 10 days. So I up and got one... then I got here and realized that I didnt really like it.... especially seeing every on on BDW wearing more formal gowns... so I bought another one. Now I actually would perfer wearing the first because the second is undergoing a whole transformation and being changed....

I think the first will be my ttd dress or something.... Im still not sure.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
