Paying For Travel Arrangements??

Recommended Posts

We are only paying for ourselves and have no plans of paying for the wedding party. I'm only having 3 bridesmaids and 3 groomsmen but the cost to cover the entire party is just too much. I think most of my wedding party thinks of the destination wedding as an excuse for a vacation anyways. I'm sure by giving plenty of notice to your wedding party no one will be offended.

Also, instead of paying their way you could give them a gift of appreciation for being in the wedding such as resort credit to use toward a massage, or you could ensure that the wedding party should not give a wedding gift on top of being apart of the wedding.

wish we could, but like others have already said we do not have enough money to do that. Informed everyone 12 months before and fully understand and accept that many of our friends and relatives will not be able to travel because of the cost and/r health reasons.

We are not paying their travel expenses, and I have been in 5 weddings and have never had my travel expenses paid for me by the bride. We have 6 bridesmaids and 6 groomsmen, so that'd be expensive! We are, however, taking into account that this trip will cost more than a wedding in the states would, and are doing other things to help defray costs...

I'm planning to buy the girls Amex gift cards to bring the cost of the bm dresses down to $100 (I don't have a dress chosen yet, but most I like are $200+), allowing them to choose their own shoes, hair/makeup are optional, and we're paying for manis/pedis for all of them at the resort.

For groomsmen, they'll wear khaki pants, navy blazers, white shirts, and ties. We are buying the ties and the khaki pants for them. They'll get/already have their own blazers and shirts. We are also going to pay for some type of trip for them (fishing, golfing, etc) the day of the wedding, to get my fiance off the resort so that I can spend my morning on the beach with my girls!

On top of that, we'll also give them the traditional wedding party gifts. These will be determined closer to the date but will likely be $75-100 each.

We are not planning to pay for travel arrangements. I would like to purchase the attire of the wedding party in addition with a gift. I want to reduce their cost for sharing our day.

Also the wedding parties OTTs will be a little different...the upgraded version. PLUS when we return I would like to take the wedding party out for dinner!

we are not paying for any of our bridal party or guests to go either.

we are paying for the bridal parties wedding day attire instead. they were made aware of that when they were asked.

we have had one groomsman back out of the trip for financial reasons, but so far everyone else is coming.

My Fiance and I are paying for most of our wedding PARTY. The guests that come are paying for themselves. It's their choice to come and if people can afford to join us then we are doing lots of nice things for them while they are there (sunset cruise, brunch, gift bags, etc) to show we appreciate they came. With the economy so tight we know most people won't make it and we aren't offended either way. We only gave 6 months notice and most of our wedding party is tight on money right now so to have them there we are having to cover a lot of that cost. We have MOH (my sister so my dad is paying for her) three BM's and three groomsmen (the third is his brother and is paying for himself) that we are paying for. Most all of them are single so it makes it easy. We are buying plane tickets for everyone and then one of the groomsmen had a timeshare that sleeps 6 people so he rented that for a week and it was only $900 and all of them can stay there together! So total we are only spending an extra $3k or so for all of our wedding party to be there. If you have it in the budget, and you feel that you really want them there, i'd say it's way worth it.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
