Paying for a group activity vs. hosting a welcome dinner???

Recommended Posts

We are hosting a rehearsal dinner for everyone at Puerta Vieja for $51 including tax and tip. We are organizing a scuba trip and fishing trip, but those are non-hosted. Our guests have no problem paying for the activities themselves. I honestly don't think (most reasonable) people expect you to pay for their entertainment just because they are coming to Cabo for your wedding. :)

We're planning an a day cruise the wednesday before our friday wedding. I wish we could afford to pay for our guests, but its way too much money and we have too many guests. The Mayan has a fire pit, maybe (depending on costs) we'll have a bonfire and cocktails the tuesday before as a welcome event.

Oh, by the way, adding to Maria's suggestions...

Loteria LoterÃ*a - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

is a Mexican Bingo type game in which you use cards instead of balls and characters instead of numbers and letters. I am planning on making game cards and using pictures of my guests and things related to PV. As an example, I have an uncle who is always falling asleep and we have great pics of him knocked out with random things in his hands, any ways, I'd place a pic of him and name him "El Dormilon" (the sleepyhead). I'm planning on playing this on the boat.

michelle, i remember that you were thinking of staying at dreams...if this is the case, then you can have a welcome dinner cheaper than most activities..

if not, what about something like cocktails and appetizers...an dinner cruise is gonna end up being $35 and up per person, then you throw in the cost of transportation to get to the marina...if cost is a big concern this is not the most cost efficient way.

I just had an idea for a group activity for us girls on a budget. Instead of a sunset cruise, what about inviting everyone to meetup on the beach about 30minutes before sunset?

I will be trying to work with the hotel provided entertainment as much as possible because I can not spend a lot of money on this wedding.

You're right tammy...we are staying at dreams....Yessica quoted me $30 per person for a welcome dinner and $85 for a day pass for those who don't stay there....which is definately going to be cheaper because it's for food and alcohol but I thought I would keep my options open....

I didn't know how much that boat cost and now I know and you're right, it's not the best choice for us! wink.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
