Reminder Mexico Time Change | Fall Back

Recommended Posts

I just thought I'd post this here because most North Americans are too familiar with the extended daylight savings which I believe falls this year at 2am on Nov 2. How nice it is to get a few extra weeks in April and an extra week at the end of the summer and start of fall.

IF you are in Mexico, this time change falls on the last Sunday of October (OCT 24). We are falling back early here. Nearly every year, we have clients who overlook this difference between the USA / Canada vs that of what is observed in Mexico and somehow, plan their ceremony to start too late and end up with a night time wedding. If you are looking for that sunset wedding, we recommend that you start at least 45 minutes to 1 hour before the scheduled sunset to make the most of that time.

Also, this means that traveling in the same time zone (ex: from Cancun to The Central time zone in the US) actually means 1 hr difference in time, however only for a few days.

We discuss this and more details about your ceremony start time and provide sunset calendars all on our Seasonal Guide Page on the del Sl blogsite.

Soon, the fall equinox occurs... Short days, wonderful temps here in Mexico, breezy nights and strong wind during the days :) LOVE the weather now! Not loving the loss of light sad.gif

Cheers,

mateo

Thanks for posting this, Matt! I wasn't aware that there was a difference between the dates for Mexico vs. the US, so I was planning my wedding date based on the US schedule for 2010. Luckily, I just checked and DST ends in Mexico on 10/31/10 so I am still okay (just barely). Thanks again =)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
