The Mom's Dresses?!?!

Recommended Posts

So maybe I am totally off here, but usually the mom's try to coordinate their colors right?! My mom got a great dress that is taupes and tans and off one shoulder. It will look great. Then my FI mom went and got a blueish/teal long one after we had even showed her my moms. Its going to look terrible in photos! HELP me am I being a bridezilla here or should I see if she can exchange it for one that will be better suited-- I even offered to go with her the day she chose it with her sister because i was afraid of this!

Teal goes with tan very well, I don't know what you wedding colors are and I could understand if you think that her dress would clash with that but the pictures will still look great even if she isn't your mom's twin. Plus, if you really think about it, how many pictures are you going to have of EVERYONE including both mothers standing next to each other?

I think we will have a lot of photos since its only my FI and his mom... no brothers or sisters and his dad died 9 years ago.

I wouldn't worry about it. I think the two will match well. Also, I had never heard of the mom's having to match? My mom's won't... uh-oh. My mom is wearing a navy blue sun dress with pattern (I can't remember it very well... she lives on the other side of the country and I only saw it on the camera) and my FMIL is wearing black and white. Then there is my FSIL who is wearing lime green! The variety will be fun. Don't worry about stuff like this. I'll bet both your mom's will be beautiful. :)

Will you have a wedding party? I'd only worry if she really clashed with the wedding party. Even if she did, it may not be worth offending her.

If it really bothers you, then just talk to her. Explain that you feel bad that you didn't mention it up-front, but that you wanted the parents to co-ordinate. Be aware that taupes and tans don't look good on everyone (put me in them and I look horrid!) so try to give her options. :)

Both my mom and FI's mom have asked me what they should wear but I honestly don't think it matters. I don't feel that guests should be coordinated in what they wear it looks too unnatural in my opinion.

I think it will be fine to not have them match!! In real life you don't coordinate outfits anytime you're in a photo so if they don't match perfectly it will still look fine!

HOWEVER, if it is something that will really bother you though then just mention that you were hoping to have cohesiveness in the photos and maybe send her some suggestions?

My FMIL is so sweet and amazing. She knew how much it was bothering me so she went back out and bought not 1 but 2 awesome dresses so I could seem them both and pick which one I liked the best. I was in shock because it was a dress that I had picked out in a different state and they only had one and it wasn't in her size so i never mentioned it- she found it on her own and both the dresses look so good she is going to wear the awesome one that i love to the wedding and the other one to the AHR. I feel so lucky. I hope that all of you have good FMILs too!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
