Past ROR Brides - Reception after dinner at disco or poolside?

Recommended Posts

HI,

We have 43 people coming (8 are kids) to our wedding in January. We are going to do the semi private dinner at the Maumee Steakhouse. I can't decide what to do...do you think we should have our reception after dinner at the disco from 9 to 11 or at the poolside ($15 a person).

Having never been there I have no idea what to expect.

What did you girls do and why did you like it?

Thanks!!!!

We had our wedding 10/17 which was on a Saturday and it worked out perfect because they had the beach party that night. I had emailed Chandlyn earlier and asked her if it would fall on our date and she said that it is every Friday unless it rains. After going to the disco, I wouldn't reccommend that. It does have a smell and it is very dark. We had a blast dancing the night away on the beach so either the Sea Grape or the Poolside reception would be the best. I hope this helps.

KarenLynn - can you explain to us perhaps why the beach bar is better than the poolside...? Was the decor better/more private? Is the dancing area better than the pool? Very curious! Thanks!!

We actually had the poolside reception and I would not have changed a thing. We didn't have the option of SeaGrape since the beach party was on that night (Saturday), but the setup was perfect. People could go down to the sand if they wanted, but most people just hung out at our poolside reception area. I really wanted to wear my heels (which came off like 20 mins later), which I would not have been able to do in the sand. The poolside reception was also tucked away pretty privately, so other than a rude couple, we were left alone.

I don't think that you can go wrong either way, though

Hi!
I wouldn't say that the beach bar is better than the poolside.......I was just extremely happy with our reception at the beach bar........the tables were all set up with white tablecloths and candles in the middle of each of them. Chandlyn brought our ceremony flowers to the reception and placed them on the tables. The area was surrounded by torches and it was so beautiful to have our first dance in the sand, under a full moon and stars, with the sound of the ocean in the background. The poolside reception is on the suite side of the resort and looked lovely as well – I think that the beach reception was just more my style - but I am sure that either or would be great!

Awesome, thank-you. So would you say the beach is more private then? And one more question...do you seriously dance in the sand all night? As in, the dance floor is literally the beach?!! LOLpopcorn.gif

This is my dilemma as well! I want to take advantage of the semi private dinner that we will be paying for with the wedding package that we have chosen but I also wanted to have a poolside 'something'. I think that $15 pp is a bit more reasonable then the $55 dinner/reception option. The only thing that im a little worried about is breaking up the evening and having to move everyone to poolside.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
