I am frantically trying to plan and get things organized for my wedding ... even though it isn't until July BUT I realize that things, like photographers, book up fast. How do I find a photographer OR is ok to go with the photographer at the resort, which at this time is more than likely going to be the Melia Cayo Santa Maria. HELP!!

I've decided to bring my own photographer! It can get expensive, but this photographer's work is my favourite and he also wasn't as expensive as some other photographers.

What I am trying to do is see if anyone is having a wedding around the same date, to see if they would like to split the travel costs with me and hire the same photographer. No one so far, but I've just started my search and am new to this website! You can do the same by posting your wedding date & request on this forum.

From most people I've spoken with who have brought their own photomgrapher, they've said it was worth every penny. Others who haven't have regretted it.

I clicked on all the side banners for photographers...you can get rates from all of them and a lot of their work is really good!

Good luck!

I'm bringing my own photographer too. I think it's the right call because the pics are so important. I would shop around to get an idea of the prices- search online, on facebook and on the forum here to see who others have used, then just start emailing around to see how you like them, if they're available for your date and if they're within your budget. The way I look at it, flying my photographer down is expensive, but when I looked at how much it would cost me to book her for a wedding here in Canada I'm actually getting a deal. Once you have someone in mind you can always see if you can find anyone to share with you! Sharing with other brides is actually pretty cool- it gives you the chance to meet and chat with someone who's getting married in the same place at the same time- for me that was the best part of the whole process! Good luck with your search- you're starting nice and early so you should have no trouble.

We're also bringing our own photographer. I agree with VaraderoBride and Melidell - just start searching the forum, online, facebook etc and I'm sure before you know it you will have found the perfect photographer for your wedding! Good luck in your search! :-)

I think it's worth the extra money to bring your own photographer. When you look at the pictures from a resort photographer and a professional, there really is no comparison. I guess it really depends on how important your pictures are to you (which I would think they're very important to every bride) and the types of pictures you want. I found my photographer through 2 other amazing brides on this site. I just saw their signature looking to share a photographer, and responded. Now i'm looking forward to meeting both of them and having some drinks on the beach!

Like many people, I am also bringing my own photographer. I knew from day 1 that I wanted her to be our photographer so I just asked if she would come, we worked out a price, and now she is coming to Cabo with us in July!

Look around at various websites and see if you can find a style you love. It doesn't hurt to contact them about pricing for coming with you. Also, if you decide to go with the resort photographer, I'd contact them and ask who they use and find out if they have a website that you can check out.

Good luck!

Thanks everyone! It sounds like bringing a photographer is the way to go ... since the pictures are SOOO important!! I am just starting to shop around now. I was in touch with one that had a great rate but unfortunately she is already booked for the whole month of July. I would love to share a photographer with someone but I think I am about the only person getting married in July in Cuba.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
