The menus say that the Dolce Vita seats 180 and the Grill seats 210.

You may consider renting out one of the restaurants with such a big group. It's $2500 but that's for the whole night. We were considering it, but for only 15 guests it didn't really make sense for our group.
(I wanted to to be outside too, but in the end, I'm getting married outside, inside may be more comfortable to eat :), being positive)

I've been emailing Chandlyn regularly to try to see what dates are open, but she isn't getting back to me! (GRRR!).  Do you have any tips for getting her to write back?! lol!  I'm going to call her next week if I still haven't heard anything.  We're looking at Jan 10, 11 or 12! Looks like we'll be there at the same time! :)

Well we were originally booked for Jan 10 but had to change our dates due to flight schedule changes.  I can tell you that the 12th is completely booked cause thats the day we wanted to move our wedding to!  I  would just give her a call.  Thats what I did when I had to change our date!

Hey BusyBee123, I'm from Ottawa too!! I'm flying out next Saturday for GBPJ and getting married on April 7th.

My tactic with Chandlyn is if i don't hear back within 3 business day, I send another email and change my subject title to something like "Please respond" "please confirm receipt"

SO the great news is that I just heard back from Donnalee (I didn't know she existed!) and she confirmed that the only remaining day from January 10-13  2012 is the 11th.  So looks like that will be the big day! At least there was one day left! Phew! Just in the nick of time!

Congrats schayer! Another Ottawa bride! And your date is getting so close! You must be SO excited! I can't wait to hear all about it! Did you go with a local travel agent or someone from elsewhere? We have tried a few places in town, but they haven't been great at getting back to us....

Another question for you ladies...I've heard pros and cons of booking your wedding for certain times.  I remember reading that 4pm is when the pool activities start, so it can often be very loud during that time.  I want to do it early enough to have some picture prior to the sunset, but that would be a nice time for the champagne and hors d'oeuvres.  Anything else you guys have learned along the way?

Thank you Tris for the info.

We didn't want to renting the restaurant, but now we thinking about it!

But the little issue I have now is: Our budget was for 20people. Now is 3 time the money I want it to spend!!!!lololol

Hi Busybee,

Congrats on setting a date!! as far as the time, I've heard that sunset sets early and that you may not have enough time to do pictures. Our ceremony start at 2. I expect pictures until 3:30 at the latest. Then either go in the piano bar or just meet up later for the reception.

I tried to book through 3 different travel agents but I had, just like you, trouble with them getting back to me. I ended up booking with Itravel2000.com. They had a great deal.

Yeah it's really close! Leaving in 6 days, wedding in 11 days, i can't wait!!

I'm going to creep your wedding!! We fly in on the 9th!

We originally had our ceremony time at 4pm but changed it to 3pm as that time of the year the Sun sets by like 540,so we didnt think there was enough time for everything so we moved it up to 3.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
