Congrats Ahehr!

We'll be there in January as well, from the 7-14th! I would suggest getting in touch with the resort to book your date before booking your travel! When I contacted them their was only one day left during the week we wanted to get married! Thankfully it was one of the 3 days I was considering!  Its surprising how quickly they fill up!

In terms of rates, I'm a little bit different as we're flying out of Toronto and Ottawa.  I would however, suggest that you try Sunquest as they have a deal right now on reduced tax.  In the end, we were able to get the 7day package taxes included for $1363 out of Toronto and $1436 out of Ottawa.  We're also getting every 11th person free, which means we'll be able to fly out two photographers down for free!

Good luck with your search! I went through a few TAs before I settled on one, so don't worry!  We've been there.  If you would like, I can put you in touch with my TA who has been amazing to work with and has spent forever trying to get us the best deal out there!

Also, what kind of rates are you getting for the resort, we are flying out of calgary and our TA is giving us a quote of $1769 p/p taxes in?  What do you suggest to try and get a better rate?

For those of you who have already been married here,

I contacted the floral place: Tai Flora and they sent me their catalogue and asked me to chose some that i liked and they would return a quote on the costs of the bouquets.

Are we supposed to let them know ahead of time the flowers we want? Or did you just wait until you got there to chose your flowers?

I have been emailing back and forth customizing my bouquet with Tia Flora. But I have read from other brides who have been married there that you really dont have to make any of those decisions until you get to the resort and sit down with the wedding planner.

Yah, we've decided ours ahead of time as well. But I'm a crazy planner who needs to know what's going on with everything.. the more laid back bride would have no problem booking it all when she gets there :) haha

if you're using tai flora and getting flowers additional to what is "free", you have to send a 25% deposit on whatever your total is at least 2 weeks ahead so I think you need to decide in advance. at least that's what I was told. from the quote you can figure your deposit. this is only for flowers that are not included in whatever package you have

I'm a planner as well. I always have to have a time frame and have a plan set, well in advance, for everything that I do! Even the most simple and easy everyday things. haha

I haven't yet. our wedding isn't until November so I'm still working on my flowers. but credit card info from what I understand, then I think the balance is due when you arrive at the resort.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
