Hey ChrisBC,

I didnt use destinationweddings.com, but I did use a travel agency weddingsbyoceans.com. They only deal with destination weddings so they seem to have a hook-ups with pricing. At the time that we booked we were getting quotes for $1700pp from most other TA, but they got us $1420pp. Right now (2.5months before the wedding) the flights are going for the same price, but I wanted to book early because we have so many people coming with us and I wanted us all on the same flight. So far we have 48 people booked and are expecting 10-16 more people....When I booked with them I had to give a deposit and then each guest had to give a $200 deposit to hold their spot, and the remainder is due mid September (2months before we leave).

I dont mind the questions!! Thats what the forum is all about!!

Good Luck!!

Thats sounds good! So far I made the first step in contacting Beverly, how quickly did she get back to you?

And just found out a relative is using destinationweddings.com for her wedding so I feel better about that.

Did the gran bahia meet your expectations when it came to decor for the ceremony and reception? Did they have many options for table linens and floral center pieces, gazebo decor, the cake etc?

We asked twice - for some reason she answers parts of the email dont know why,

what is the recommended timeframe from now to booking accommodations and submitting the 25% deposit?

we want to know so we can be certain the date is surely ours before we send out stds...(yes it is confirmed but we dont feel its secure without a deposit)

anyone know the answer to this?

thanks!

Sometimes I find Beverly random. lol. She often answers something and not everything, or I'll think of another question after sending an email, and she answered the 2nd email and not the first. So I have taken to sending her an email, and if its not all answered within a few (3-4days) I will resend it and state that I have already sent this email, but I havent heard back....lol....she generally then responds within a day...try that!

To be honest I havent even thought of table linens, cake, etc. I have told her my colour is blue, so I hope whatever she comes up with looks good! cross your fingers for me!!

Hey All,

We just put our deposit down for 10 people with our TA to secure the rate until April 30, 2011 :) I hope everyone books by then to save confusion !  Ive also booked our wedding date with beverly ! we are getting married Oct 18, 2011 :) cant wait !

Beverly will handle everything when you get down there from what I have heard from other brides who was married at GBP, so no need to worry about table linens, decorations etc Also if you want favors for the table ie a bottle of Appleton rum beverly will get this for you all you need to do is ask :) I cant wait to start planning and looking for my dress !!! woot woot :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
