Hi Jules,

I was wondering how you liked the Steel Drum band? I want to get one for our wedding there next year and it would be comforting to know if they are worth the money!

Also, what restaurant would you recommend for the reception?

I haven't heard ANYTHING about the other options for meals, now that you mention it it does seem like at least somebody would know about it!

Hi

I am planning on doing the exact same thing you did.   I am booked for July 2011.  Did you have to pay extra for the bar?  If you have any pictures you could send me that show the Italian restaurant I would greatly appreciate it, as there are no pictures online of any of the restaurants.   Do you know if they set up private dinners on the terrace?  What did you think of the wedding pictures you recieved in the package?

Beverly was amazing, the resort is beautiful and the gazebo is even nicer in real life! We were upgraded when we got there to the bridal suite and OMG the view and the room were amazing. We met with Beverly the morning after we arrived for about 45 minutes and planned the entire thing! We had the private dinner reception with bar and dance floor and DJ in the Italian Restuarant and we got to chose the menu and cake when we arrived, along with the flowers. I also had the steel drum band play for us and then they had a champange reception following the ceremony. I couldn't have been happier. It was the perfect wedding day! We brought a CD with the music on it for first dance and entrance song (Spirit of the west) and the DJ was right on que with everything. I let him play what he wanted at the reception and he took requests. It was seamless. If anything did go wrong I didn't hear about it, Beverly took care of everything and Tim and I just enjoyed our day. After the wedding we went back to our room to find rose petals everywhere, some great towel art and a bubble bath in the jacuzzi tub with more rose petals!! The girls dresses were pink and from RW&Co and the guys shirts were royal blue from Tommy Bahama. We brought our own wedding photographer and hair and make-up artist with us and it was all great! If you have any questions please let me know, and I'll explain anything! But seriously, if you have a wedding planned there in the upcoming year, do not stress, it will be the best day of your life!!!

Hi,

I was wondering if you can give me some pointers. I am going to begin the process of booking my wedding at GBPJ but I am unsure if I should go with a travel agent or deal with the hotel directly? After reading these forums it sounds like travel agents can be a rip off.. I ve been on vacation there last year for a week with my fiance and the price was no more then a 1000 that was for the both of us ! So to hear you guys getting rates that are higher per person scares me ! :(

Also I understand after reading everyones blogs that we have to pay for meals at the reception? but do my guests still receive the all inclusive benefits for the rest of their stay ?

Hey ChrisBC,

I didnt really looked at booking individually because I wanted to make sure that all of my guest were on the same flight as we are. You could probably figure out a way to coordinate all the guest, but I really didnt even think about it....

As for the meals, you have a certain number of guest that are included (depending on the package you pick), and then you have to pay extra for each additional guest. The guest still have the AI benefits. It was explained to me that you are paying for the additional servers and the wedding area set-up (ie. setting up chairs, decorations, tables, etc.).....

Hi ! thanks for posting,

Oh now I understand the guests aspect of it. (Paying per person at the reception)

However, as per the booking rooms and flights etc I found destinationweddings.com, they are wedding specialist for destinations..they are suppose to help with the tickets and all that, plus  they give the guests special discounts when booking and the option to use a payment plan. As anyone used them before ?

Did you end up going with a travel agent then? We might be having an estimate of 30-40 guests that would go so i dont think we would have the pleasure of being on the same flight :/

Sorry if im asking too much, i just want to get a visual of how this is all gonna playout

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
