Heather's Planning Thread

Recommended Posts

Wow, I’m having a hard time believing that it’s actually my turn to post my planning thread! These are always my fave threads so I knew I had to do one. I need to thank everyone for their inspiration – I don’t know how many of these ideas were actually my own, hehe. And thanks to Tammy for creating BDW. As we all know, planning a DW would have been impossible without this forum! OK so here goes…

Rings

Mine:

His:

He is wearing a ring he bought while we were on our engagement trip, but he’s also going to get something tattooed on his ring finger (his idea). He takes rings off a lot for hockey etc so he wanted something more permanent. I don’t have a great picture of it though, sorry! You’ll have to wait for our wedding pics!

Invitations

The thread I posted about our mini poster invites is here:

This is what they looked like all rolled up:

My Dress

My dress is very simple and I had a custom belt made for the ceremony, plus another custom belt for the reception.

This is me at my third fitting. I made it tighter around the hips/butt after this but I don’t have a picture of this yet as I’m going to pick it up tonight! I might be able to update this with a newer picture but this is the best I can do for now.

Here is the custom reception belt I ordered from Chelsea at OhMyDeer! (etsy):

My shoes

I’m in love with my shoes! I don’t have a great pic of them on me but this is them from some website somewhere:

Groom’s Outfit

M is wearing a grey summery Hugo Boss suit. His shirt is white and his tie is black. This is a pic of him after he haphazardly threw it on – the tie isn’t tied properly and his shoes aren’t tied so it’s all jumbled at the bottom, but obviously it will be perf on the wedding day!

M and his groomsmen are wearing these shoes. They are all huge sneaker lovers so M got these exclusive high-tops as their gift.

Wedding Party

The guys are wearing grey pants from Club Monaco, a white button-up shirt, black suspenders, and a black tie. This is one of our gm in the outfit, but without the tie (sorry for the crap quality – it was taken on a bberry):

The girls are wearing grey dresses from Banana Republic, and black flower belts from Urban Outfitters. Here is one of my bm’s:

Gifts

The guys were given the high-tops seen above, as well as black skinny ties that I don't have a picture of.

I got the girls the black belts for their dresses (above), plus spa wraps from SmartyPants boutique:

The only jewelry I’m wearing on the wedding day (other than my rings) is my earrings. They’re from Banana Republic:

Welcome Packages

We did a Welcome Package for the guests to welcome them to Cabo and to provide a bit of info about each guest, as well as pictures. We didnâ€t want to do an OOT bag since most of our guests would be bringing items such as advil etc along with them.

I did up a welcome letter myself (using the template I got from Leia78â€s planning thread – thanks Leia!) and had it printed on silver paper. I used Miss Pickles Press for the guest info booklets.

We are also including Moo Cards with our welcome packages to direct people where to upload their photos after the ceremony. We wanted to include Nixon somehow (our puggle) so this is where he comes in! One side of the Moo Card is the picture, the other side has the text. This is both sides in a row:

Ceremony

The ceremony will be on the beach at Dreams. Weâ€re having silver chivary chairs and blush rose petals on the aisle. On each of the aisle chairs, there will be a tulle pom pom hanging on the edge – alternating between black and white. I donâ€t really have an inspiration pic of this, sorry! Itâ€s all in my head!

Reception

Our reception is on the Oceana Terrace and is a cocktail reception. We will have heavy apps passed all night as well as app stations. We are renting lounge furniture from Oxten to give it a casual/club-like feel.

Extras

We ordered personalized napkins and coasters from For Your Party. I think they turned out awesome – Iâ€m so excited about these! I donâ€t have any pics of the coasters because they are wrapped up in plastic, but here are the napkins:

Dessert

We will have cupcakes from Deena at Sweet Dreams. Weâ€ll be putting them on a number of these trays, which my mom got for super cheap at a discount store. I canâ€t find a picture of them to save my life right now, so Iâ€ll have to post it when I get back.

Flowers

Flowers will be blush-colored roses from Lola at Florenta. Lola has been amazing to work with so far. Iâ€m having the bouquets wrapped in black and white striped ribbon.

Favors

We purchased pashminas for the ladies and will have cigars for the boys. Anaâ€s husband created these pashmina tags for us because Iâ€m horrible at computer design stuff – he did a great job! I love them.

Also, as a “favor†I guess, weâ€re taking our guests on a sunset cruise 2 days after the wedding. Weâ€re using Sunrider Tours who has been great to work with so far…

Honeymoon

From Cabo we are going to Kona Village in Hawaii – we canâ€t wait! After that weâ€re spending a few nights in LA before heading back to reality sad.gif

Thatâ€s it! If anyone has any questions, let me know!

Heather I love your colors!

What a good idea to change your belt for the reception! I can't believe your wedding is just around the corner!

Have a great time and try not to stress about the small details when you get there! everything will turn out great!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
